Something I get asked a lot ā
"what exactly is music therapy?"
Honestly, it's one of my favourite questions to answer.
Because music therapy isn't what most people imagine. It's not about being able to sing or play an instrument. It's not a performance. There's no right or wrong.
It's about creating a space where music becomes a tool ā for expression, for connection, for working through things that are hard to put into words.
I've watched people who struggle to communicate light up when they pick up an instrument. I've seen a simple rhythm help someone feel calm when everything else felt chaotic. I've been in sessions where a song brought a whole group together in a way that nothing else could.
That's what keeps me coming back every week. Not the music itself ā though I love that too ā but what the music makes possible for people.
If you've ever wondered what music therapy actually looks like in practice, I'd love to chat. š¶
