🌞 Stay Safe in the Heat! 🌞

Summer is here, and the temperatures are rising! To keep yourself and your loved ones safe during hot weather, remember these tips:

Stay Hydrated – Drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Avoid too much caffeine or alcohol.
Protect Yourself from the Sun – Wear a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen with SPF 30+.
Stay Cool – Spend time in shaded areas or air-conditioned spaces. Take cool showers if needed.
Check on Vulnerable People – Keep an eye on children, elderly neighbors, and pets—they’re most at risk.
⚠ Know the Signs of Heat-Related Illness – Headache, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, or nausea are warning signs. Move to a cool place and seek help if needed.

Let’s enjoy the sunny days safely! ☀️💦

💧 Stay Hydrated, Stay Safe 💧

As temperatures begin to rise, it’s important to remind employees about the importance of staying hydrated while at work — especially for those working outdoors or carrying out physically demanding tasks.

Dehydration can lead to fatigue, dizziness, headaches, reduced concentration, and an increased risk of workplace accidents.

Simple Hydration Tips:
• Drink water regularly throughout the day
• Don’t wait until you feel thirsty
• Take regular breaks in warm environments
• Wear suitable clothing and PPE for hot conditions
• Avoid excessive caffeine and sugary drinks

Employers should ensure workers have easy access to drinking water and encourage regular hydration breaks to help maintain safety, wellbeing, and productivity in the workplace.

🦺 A hydrated team is a safer team.

Alcohol awareness
Know your limits and look out for your friends. Arrange a safe way home before you head out.

Water safety
Ireland’s waters can be unpredictable—always swim in designated areas and never alone.

BBQs & outdoor fun
Keep a safe distance from open flames and fully extinguish fires before leaving.

Stay connected
Let someone know your plans, especially if you’re heading hiking or exploring.

Let’s make this May Bank Holiday one to remember—for all the right reasons 💚
Stay safe and enjoy the break!

🌍 Earth Day – 22 April 2026

Earth Day is a global moment to come together and support environmental protection and climate action.

Climate change isn’t just an environmental issue — it’s a safety issue. It affects our workplaces, our communities, and our everyday lives. From extreme weather events to changing working conditions, the risks are already here.

While Ireland may be small, our greenhouse gas emissions per person are among the highest in the world. The impacts of global warming are being felt now — and without action, these risks will continue to grow.

This Earth Day, let’s think about safety in a broader way: protecting not just ourselves and each other, but the environment we all depend on. 🌱
