When: Monday the 15th of June
Time: 19:30 – 20:30.

You can register by following the link in bio or visiting planet youth website, Galway, Mayo & Roscommon on west.planetyouth.ie or visit stepup.ie

It is an information session that will assist parents in supporting their children with the school transition throughout the summer.

We will have three speakers and it’s a relaxed but informative session.

Niamh O’Flanagan, a school chaplain at Glenamaddy Community School, will talk about life in secondary school, pastoral care and support. subject choices, mentoring.

Helen Butler, a youth coach and information officer with Youthwork Ireland Galway, will have lots of practical tips for parents.

Gina Dermody, an Adolescent Psychotherapist, will talk about any particular concerns that parents have. This might be about things like high levels of anxiety, learning supports, neurodiversity.

We will also do a quick demonstration of the Step Up website. The Step Up website is designed for both 6th class students and their parents to use now and also over the summer. It answers almost all of the questions they will have about the move.

We will cover a lot of ground in the hour and parents will have the opportunity to put questions to the panel through a chat feature.

Parents can also submit questions in advance by email, if they prefer, to [email protected] or [email protected]

Growth rarely happens inside our comfort zone.

For children, adolescents, and adults alike, growth often begins with taking small steps into the unknown. It might be trying something new, speaking up when it feels difficult, asking for support, facing a fear, or believing in yourself when confidence feels out of reach.

Learning, healing, and personal development are not about getting everything right. They are about having the courage to keep moving forward, even when the path feels uncertain.

Every new challenge presents an opportunity to discover strengths you never knew you had.

What is one small step you can take today that your future self will thank you for?

As exams begin this week, many Leaving Cert students may be carrying a mix of pressure, hope, nerves, and anticipation.

Take a moment to
Be patient with yourself.
Be kind to yourself.
Be gentle with yourself.

One step, one exam, one day at a time. This is just one part of your journey.

Anger sometimes needs loving kindness.

Not every strong emotion is asking to be challenged. Sometimes it is asking to be understood.

A moment of patience.
A gesture of care.
A reminder that someone is there.

What appears fiery on the outside may simply be longing for warmth on the inside.

At Children, Adolessence & Beyond, we believe that understanding and connection can create space for healing and growth.

If you see something wonderful in another person, tell them.

We often notice the kindness, warmth, and goodness in others, but the moment passes before we say it aloud.

A few kind words can brighten someone's day. On a difficult day especially, they can be a gentle reminder that their kindness, warmth, and presence are noticed and valued by others. Even a few words can lift a heavy heart.

So, if you see something beautiful in someone, tell them.

You never know how much those words may mean.
