Never miss a session. 10,000 steps every day. Every meal cooked at home. No takeaways, ever.

Which one breaks first for you? Tell me in the comments.

I'd swap every one of those for a rule that still works on your worst week: never miss two sessions in a row, steps in a range, and the takeaway picked while you're full.

Already saying you'll start again in January? Let's stop that this year.

Most people only gain about 1 to 2 lb of actual fat over Christmas. The five kilos (11 lb) you think you gained is mostly water and sodium. The real problem is that the 1 to 2 lb never comes off, and it stacks up year after year.

Here's the plan for the next ten weeks, so you can still enjoy yourself:
1. Get your number. Weigh yourself every morning, add up the seven days and divide by seven. That average is the number to protect.
2. Plan your big nights out. Shave your calories, mostly from carbs, for the three days leading up to it. Surprise night out? Do the same thing in reverse.
3. One night stays one night. It doesn't turn into four days of takeaways.

Then every Sunday, check your average. Up two or three pounds? Tighten things up for a bit.

What do you usually say when the plan goes out the window at Christmas? Tell me below, or message me if you want a hand getting through the next ten weeks. My website is www.rgtcoaching.com.

Monday starts with good intentions, and by Wednesday it's toast for dinner and no gym?

Give it ten minutes tonight:
1. Put training in the calendar on set days and times.
2. Pick three small things you'll do every day, however the day goes.
3. Write four dinners for your busiest nights and shop for them in one go.
4. Plan one treat and one meal out on purpose.
5. Find the day most likely to go wrong and decide now what you'll eat.

I've helped thousands of people. Most had tried before. Here are five of their stories.

Every result says how long it took, and some were quicker than most people manage, so please don't read them as typical. Results vary.

What they had in common: they'd been stuck before, and this time they got there.

My Google reviews sit at 5.0 from 36 reviews, and the quotes on slide 8 are from them.

If you're sick of starting again, message me and tell me where you're at. I'll see if I can help. There are more results on my website, www.rgtcoaching.com.

Scales up already? One weigh-in tells you very little, so weigh daily and average the week.

I lost over 60 kg (132 lb) and it took me well over a year and a half. It never looked like a straight line: one week down a kilo, the next up three. Weigh yourself once a week and you're at the mercy of carbs, salt, training and stress.

What I do with my clients: weigh in every morning and log it, then add up the seven days and divide by seven. After three weeks you have a proper trend. If the average is flat for two or three weeks, add some activity first. If you can't, drop calories by 100 to 150 a day and repeat.

What does a bad weigh-in do to you mentally? Tell me below.

Never confused, never starting over. That's what coaching with me is built for, and here's what it looks like week to week.

Open the app and today is laid out: your session, your meals, and a note on where your week stands. Don't fancy a meal? Swap it in two taps and the day still adds up. Every weekend you check in, and I read it and reply myself, bad weeks included. There's a small private group in the app that I run, with a check-in every midweek. And I'm a message away whenever the week goes sideways.

You don't need to know anything going in. I explain it as we go.

If you're sick of starting again, message me and tell me where you're at. I'll see if it's a fit. If you'd like a look around first, my website is www.rgtcoaching.com.

Do you really have to weigh everything when you're a busy parent?

At home, mostly yes. It takes seconds once the scales are sitting on the counter. Eating out, break the meal into parts, guess each one, add 15% on top, and you get better at it fast.

And if the app has been dead for a while, come back with one meal a day. Every gram can wait.

Message me if you want help setting it up. www.rgtcoaching.com

Good all week, gone by Sunday?

A client of mine knew exactly what to do and did it Monday to Friday. Then the weekend undid it, week after week, for nearly two years.

What I'd change: think in a week, not a day. Eat 100 to 150 calories less Monday to Friday so there's 500 to 750 more for the weekend. Plan the one meal out you'll enjoy most. Keep your steps, water and protein at breakfast going on Saturday and Sunday. And make Monday a normal day, not day one.

Had a bad day and told yourself you'll start fresh on Monday?

That one day just became six. Wait for Monday and the rest of the week goes with it.

Your restart is the next meal you eat. Make it a normal one with protein in it, no skipping to make up for last night. Get some water and a walk in. Log the bad day, guesses and all. Then judge the week, not the day.

This is the story behind why I coach.

For anyone who doesn't know me yet: I started at about 150 kg (330 lb) and lost over 60 kg (132 lb) in 18 months. That was my result. Yours will be your own, and I'll never promise you a number.

If any part of this sounds like you, message me and tell me where you're at. You can also have a look at www.rgtcoaching.com
