We had a very special musical treat recently at Bishopscourt Nursing Home, Cork as we were delighted to welcome the fantastic jazz trio, The Heppsters, for an afternoon of live entertainment 💜

Our Residents were thoroughly entertained as the group filled the room with smooth jazz and familiar tunes, with plenty of singing along, tapping feet, and smiling faces throughout.

This visit was made even more meaningful as one of the musicians, Eoin, is the son of our Resident Eileen who is incredibly proud of her son. Eoin entertains our Residents regularly and earlier in the month was part of the barbershop quartet The Hairmonics

Our Residents absolutely loved The Heppsters and the wonderful atmosphere they created — it was a great afternoon of music, connection, and entertainment for everyone involved 🎷

A big thank you to the band for sharing their talent with us and helping create such a lovely experience at Bishopscourt.

The excitement is building here in Bishopscourt Nursing Home, Cork as our residents prepare to cheer on the Rebels today ❤️🤍

Residents have been busy creating special banners and decorations ahead of the Munster Senior Hurling Championship Final, where Cork will take on Limerick at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh this Sunday, 7th June, at 2pm.

It's a repeat of last year's thrilling final, when Cork claimed victory in dramatic fashion with a penalty shootout, so there's plenty of anticipation and excitement around the home.

As you can imagine, our residents can't wait to gather together, watch the match, and cheer on their county team. The banners are ready, the colours are flying, and the support is stronger than ever!

Earlier in the week we shared some photos of our Bishopscourt Nursing Home, Cork Residents having our own Bloom Festival 🌸planting a new herb bed that includes French Lavender, Thyme, Sage, Lemon Balm, Rosemary, and Mint — creating a lovely sensory experience for everyone to enjoy throughout the summer.

Of course in true style - there was a sing-song. And our Activities Coordinator, Yvonne, captured all on video 🥰.

At Bishopscourt Nursing Home, Cork we had a little Bloom Festival of our own this Bank Holiday weekend 🌸🌿

Inspired by the wonderful Bord Bia Bloom Festival, our Residents have been busy last week creating beautiful new garden spaces here at Bishopscourt. Guided by our Activities Coordinators, there was plenty of teamwork, laughter, and green fingers working with the planting. We now have a wonderfully colourful flower bed along with a gorgeous herb and lavender garden filled with amazing scents.

Our new herb bed includes French Lavender, Thyme, Sage, Lemon Balm, Rosemary, and Mint — creating a lovely sensory experience for everyone to enjoy throughout the summer.

A huge well done to all of our Residents and Bishopscourt Nursing Home, Cork staff who helped bring the gardens to life. The results are simply blooming beautiful 🥰🌼💜

We had a lovely little treat on Wednesday for both our Bishopscourt Nursing Home, Cork residents and staff to help everyone cool down during the warm weather — delicious ice cream in wafers 🍦☀️

For many of our residents, it brought back wonderful memories of simpler times when an ice cream wafer was a very special childhood treat. As you can see, they went down a treat with everyone!

Eddie had the biggest smile on his face and told our Activities Coordinator, Yvonne, that it brought him right back to when he was 7 years old — “and that was a loooooong time ago,” he said 😊

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that bring the greatest joy ❤️

😂🎳 Meet Mamie and her fabulous new fashion statement.

The other day at Bishopscourt Nursing Home we were enjoying a fun game when Mamie decided the game wasn’t just for playing, it was for wearing too !

She proudly popped it on her head, announced to everyone that it was her “new hat,” and was absolutely delighted with herself. Of course, she then insisted we take her photo… and honestly, we think she might be starting a new trend! 😄

Safe to say Mamie did not want to take it off at all, and she had everyone laughing along with her wonderful sense of fun and humour. Moments like these truly brighten the day for residents and staff alike. ❤️

Our residents at Bishopscourt Nursing Home, Cork recently enjoyed a relaxing morning filled with colouring, creativity, and a chat. From bright patterns to beautiful artwork, it was wonderful to see everyone expressing themselves and enjoying the calm and joy that art can bring.

Activities like these encourage relaxation, focus, and connection and happy moments along the way 💛

Here are some lovely photos from our recent visit with Miller, our wonderful therapy dog at Bishopscourt Nursing Home, Cork

Our residents and staff always look forward to Miller’s visits and truly enjoy his gentle company, cuddles, and calming presence. There were lots of smiles, chats, and happy moments shared throughout the day.

Therapy dog visits bring so much comfort, joy, and companionship to everyone, and Miller certainly brightened our day once again 🐶

Thank you to Miller for spreading happiness around our home, we can’t wait for the next visit already. 💙

€756.20 Raised for the Alzheimer Society of Ireland 👏👏

On Friday, May 8th, Bishopscourt Nursing Home, Cork was delighted to host a wonderful fundraising Tea Day in support of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland. 💙

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed a beautiful afternoon of tea served in the finest china, creating a truly special and nostalgic atmosphere. Head Chef Sebastian spoiled everyone with freshly baked, delicious scones, making the occasion even more memorable.

As always, the day was filled with laughter, conversation, and togetherness, with plenty of smiles all around.

We are also delighted to share that, including the generosity from our Christmas market donations, we have raised a fantastic €756.20 for the Alzheimer Society of Ireland. We also sold out of all our raffle tickets — so we’re keeping our fingers crossed that one of us might be a winner 🤞

The Raffle will be held on May 29th - good luck if you have tickets 🤞🤞

At Bishopscourt, every role plays a vital part in the care and wellbeing of our residents — from our nurses and care teams providing daily support with compassion and dignity, to all staff who contribute to making our home a safe, welcoming, and happy place to live.
