Free GP consultations
Available to many people based on income and other eligibility criteria

✅ Drugs Payment Scheme
Limits the amount your family pays each month for approved prescription medicines, regardless of income.

Under 8 GP Visit Card
Your child must be under 8 years of age.
Your child must live in Ireland and intend to live here for at least one year.
There is no income or means test. All eligible children under 8 can register, regardless of family income.
The card covers:
Free GP visits
Scheduled health checks at ages 2 and 5
Out-of-hours urgent GP care
Asthma care provided by your GP

It does not cover:
Prescription medicines
Hospital charges
Other benefits included with a full medical card

Following a change in wind direction, smoke from the ongoing fire in Slievenamon in Co Tipperary now may affect areas of Waterford.

People with underlying respiratory conditions are advised to take extra precautions during this time.

People should seek medical help if they have difficulty breathing, have chest pain or have severe wheeze or worsening asthma symptoms.

🌸 Hormone Replacement Therapy Scheme, HRT.

Menopause can affect every woman differently, with a range of symptoms that may be affecting your quality of life, Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) may be an effective treatment option.

Under the Government's 2025 Free HRT Scheme, the cost of approved HRT medicines and pharmacy dispensing fees is covered for eligible patients.

To access the scheme, you will need:
• A prescription for an approved HRT medicine from your GP .
• A Drugs Payment Scheme (DPS) card (if you don't already have a Medical Card).
• Your prescription dispensed at a participating pharmacy.
