Fasting tips Part 3: (Wearing my holistic nutrition and fasting coach hat here) See Fasting Tips part 1 and 2 on previous posts from earlier this week : Fasting Tips Part 3 : What to eat pre fast and the best foods to break the fast with. To hydrate effectively before a fast, focus on water-dense produce and electrolyte-rich liquids. Eat foods like watermelon, cucumbers, and clear broths. Pair these with complex carbs like oats or sweet potatoes, which bind with water, and avoid salty foods that trigger thirst. Water-Rich Fruits & Veggies: Watermelon, cucumbers, peaches, and oranges. These foods are comprised up to 90% water content and provide natural sugars and vitamins. Soups and Broths: Clear vegetable or bone broths are excellent ways to load up on liquids and replenish electrolytes. Plain yogurt and cottage cheese contain high water content and offer protein to help keep you full. Coconut Water: Highly recommended for pre-dawn meals because it replaces essential electrolytes and helps your body retain fluids. Chia Seeds: Soak them in water or mix them into a smoothie; they absorb a significant amount of water and digest slowly to keep you hydrated. Breaking your fast : It is tempting to break an extended fast with something cold and sweet / Icecream was the go to with my kids for years. As we cared more and more about eating healthier over the years, we realized we did not need the sugar spikes that go along with grabbing ice cream or the first available soda to break the fast with . It is recommended by fasting experts to go slow and healthy. It is best to break your fast with easily digestible foods such as any nutritious soup ( bone broth is highly recommended ) or steamed vegetables And please , you dint need to drink Gatorade before or after the fast ! It is loaded with sugar and chemicals - not good for you at all!😫It’s easy to make your own hydration drink by putting together these or any similar ingredients :1/2 cup fresh squeezed orange or grapefruit juice
1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
2 cups filtered water or coconut water
2 tablespoons raw honey
1/8 tsp Himalayan Pink or Celtic sea or Atlantic gray salt (for the trace minerals)
Instructions
Mix everything together and enjoy!
