היום אני נרגשת במיוחד לשתף כי קיבלתי מינוי של פרופסור מן המניין במסלול הרגיל באוניברסיטת תל אביב – המינוי האקדמי הגבוה ביותר שניתן לקבל.
בניגוד למסלול הקליני הייעודי לרופאים, המסלול הרגיל מתחרה על אותם הישגים וסטנדרטים עם כלל תחומי האקדמיה.
אני גאה להיות האישה הראשונה באגף נשים ויולדות בשיבא לדורותיו שמקבלת מינוי כזה – רגע שמרגיש כמו עוד צעד בשבירת תקרת הזכוכית.
הדרך לכאן הייתה ארוכה ומלאת עשייה: החל מעבודת מחקר בסיסית במעבדה עם עכברים כבר בסוף השנה הראשונה ללימודי הרפואה, דרך מחקרים פורצי דרך בתחום הפוריות והשפעות הסביבה על פוריות האישה והגבר – מחקרים שזכו להכרה בינלאומית וציטוטים רבים, וסייעו למקם את שיבא בחזית המחקר העולמית.
זכיתי גם להעמיק ולהתפתח במשך שלוש שנות מחקר באוניברסיטת הרווארד, בהדרכת רופאים וחוקרים מהטובים בעולם – חוויה שעיצבה אותי רבות ותרמה להתפתחות הקריירה שלי.
אני מלאת תודה על הדרך, על האנשים שליוו אותי לאורכה, ועל הזכות לעסוק בעשייה מדעית ורפואית בעלת משמעות.
בראש ובראשונה מוקירת תודה למשפחה שלי שאפשרה לי לכבוש את הפסגה הנוכחית.
שמחה במיוחד על המנטורים הנפלאים שזכיתי להם בארץ ובעולם, ובמיוחד רוצה להודות לפרופ' דור ופרופ' זיידמן משיבא ולפרופ' קתרין רקובסקי, פרופ' אנדראה בקרלי, פרופ' מרק הורנשטיין ופרופ' רס האוזר מהרווארד, על ההכוונה, האמונה והליווי לאורך השנים.
ממשיכה קדימה בהתרגשות, בסקרנות ובמחויבות להמשיך לחקור, ללמד ולתרום.
Today I am deeply excited to share that I have been appointed Full Professor (tenure track) at Tel Aviv University – the highest academic rank one can achieve. Unlike the clinical track designated for physicians, the regular academic track competes across the entire university, under the same standards as all other disciplines.
I am especially proud to be the first woman in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, in its history, to receive this appointment – a moment that feels like another step in breaking the glass ceiling.
This milestone reflects many years of work: from early laboratory research with mice at the end of my first year of medical school, to leading groundbreaking studies in fertility and the environmental impacts on female and male reproductive health. These works have received broad international recognition and citations, helping position Sheba Medical Center at the forefront of global research.
I was also fortunate to spend three wonderful years at Harvard University, under the mentorship of some of the world’s leading physicians and scientists – an experience that deeply shaped my professional path.
I am filled with gratitude for this journey, for the people who supported me along the way, and for the privilege of engaging in meaningful scientific and medical work.
I am especially grateful to my family that enabled me with these achievements and the outstanding mentors I have had in Israel and abroad.
I would like to particularly thank Prof. Daniel Seidman, Prof. Jehoshua Dor, Prof. Catherine Racowsky, Prof. Andrea Baccarelli, Prof. Mark Hornstein and Prof. Russ Hauser for their guidance, belief, and continuous support.
Looking ahead with excitement, curiosity, and a deep commitment to continue researching, teaching, and contributing.
