My great grandfather, Rabbi Isaac Spira, was the Rebbe (Grand Rabbi) of Tysminitz (now Tysmenytsya, Ukraine; but then part of Galicia). He was originally the Rebbe of Lanczut, which he inherited from his father. After the war, someone else had begun calling themselves the Lanczuter Rebbe. Rather than start an argument, my Zaidy Streimel as I called him, simply changed his name to the Tysminitzer R

ebbe, of which he was the heir to on his mother's side. He had enough, so why fight when you can share? The legacy of Tysminitz lives on today, with Mental Health Community Educational Events.
