After 38 remarkable years at Beit Issie Shapiro, we are saying farewell to Edna Karni as she begins a new chapter.

Edna began her career with us as a young teacher at our De Lowe Early Intervention Center and went on to serve in leadership roles for 16 years, as Director of the De Lowe Early Intervention Center and most recently as Director of Beit Raz, our inclusive early childhood campus.

Throughout her career, Edna helped shape generations of professionals, supported countless children and families, and led with vision, dedication and deep care. Her impact can be seen not only in the programs she helped build, but in the people she inspired along the way.

At a moving farewell event, colleagues, staff, government representatives and members of Edna’s family came together to thank her and celebrate all she has given to Beit Issie.

As Edna shared, “Beit Issie Shapiro is home, and it will always remain so in my heart.”

Thank you, Edna, for 38 years of leadership, commitment and love. Your legacy will continue to be felt for many years to come.

Young Voices, Big Impact!

A group of teen advocates with disabilities from Beit Issie visited Moovit IL , Israel’s leading public transportation app, to share how transportation can become more accessible for people across the country.

They spoke about the barriers they face and shared practical ideas based on their own experiences.

This is what advocacy looks like: speaking up, sharing your perspective and helping create change for others. We are so proud of our teen advocates!

Thank you to the Moovit team for listening, learning and joining the conversation about better transportation for everyone. 💙 ♿️

We were thrilled to welcome back our friends from Amazon.com for another meaningful volunteer day at Beit Issie last month! 🧡

The team rolled up their sleeves to build a dollhouse for the Pink Class and create new planters for our school garden, with help from our students.

Thank you to the Amazon team for your time, energy and generosity. We are already looking forward to your next visit!

WATCH how inclusive design can create opportunities, build independence and change lives.

Through HIT מכון טכנולוגי חולון Fixperts program, industrial design students partner with Beit Issie Shapiro to create customized solutions that meet the real needs of children with disabilities at our Special Education School.

When Lavie joined the school’s bocce team, he was eager to play with his friends. But because of his motor challenges, holding and releasing the ball and using the standard ramp were difficult.

His sports teacher, Orit, saw how much he wanted to participate and began thinking about how the game could be made accessible for him.

HIT students Liron Elioz and Yuval worked closely with Lavie to create a personalized solution. Now, with one simple movement, he can roll the ball down the ramp and fully take part in the game with his friends.

Next year, Lavie will be able to join his team from day one with greater confidence and independence. The solution also has the potential to help children with similar motor challenges at other schools.

Thank you to Holon Institute of Technology , Liron and Yuval for your creativity, patience and dedication, and for creating real opportunities for children to participate and succeed.

Splashing and celebrating at the Magic of Geoff Swim! 🏊

After a full year of hard work in hydrotherapy, tens of children through young adults, of all ages and abilities, came together for a joyful day in the pool, with their families and therapists cheering them on every step of the way.

They swam alongside one another, celebrated their progress and proudly received certificates and medals.

The Magic of Geoff was established in loving memory of Geoff Tollman, former Chairman of Beit Issie Shapiro’s Board and a lifelong friend and supporter of the organization.

A huge congratulations to all our swimmers and our amazing hydrotherapy team on a great year!

What a wonderful day at the Maccabi GB Community Fun Run!

We loved welcoming families to the UK Friends of Beit Issie Shapiro booth for hands-on games, activities, and lots of bubbles.

It was such a great opportunity to meet members of the UK community and share more about the work of Beit Issie Shapiro.

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers, Annabelle, Gabs, Izzie, Millie and Lara, who helped bring the booth to life, and a very special thank you to Lara Isaacs for being part of the event from the early planning stages.

Thank you as well to for donating an incredible wellness experience as a prize, and to everyone who stopped by to say hello.

Thank you, Maccabi GB, for bringing families together for such a fun day and a great cause!

With World Cup excitement in the air, our Canadian Friends were scoring some pretty important goals of their own. ⚽

More than 400 players, families and supporters came together in Toronto for the 16th Annual Kicking for Kids Soccerthon, raising an amazing $43,000+ for children and adults with disabilities at Beit Issie Shapiro.

There was something for everyone, with junior and adult soccer tournaments, skills stations, dance competitions, games, crafts and the Inclusive Kids Zone.

A huge thank you to everyone who played, donated, volunteered, sponsored or cheered from the sidelines. You helped make the day such a success.

What a way to kick off the summer! 🏆

We are so proud to congratulate our founder, Naomi Stuchiner נעמי סטוצ׳ינר , on receiving the Sylvan Adams Nefesh B'Nefesh Bonei Zion Prize for Community & Non-Profit.

This well-deserved award honors exceptional English-speaking Olim whose leadership and dedication have made a lasting contribution to Israeli society. Naomi has spent decades turning a deeply personal vision into real change for people with disabilities, their families, and society as a whole.

This Shabbat marks the 46th yahrzeit of Naomi’s father, Issie Shapiro, the visionary behind Beit Issie Shapiro. Issie made Aliyah from South Africa with a strong belief that Israeli society could and should offer dignity, opportunity, and full participation to people of all abilities. His values helped shape a movement that has changed services, attitudes, professional practice, and public policy across Israel.

It feels especially meaningful that Naomi is receiving this recognition now. Through her leadership, Issie’s vision became a national model, and his legacy continues to impact hundreds of thousands of people in Israel and around the world.

Congratulations to Naomi and to all of this year’s inspiring recipients. 🇮🇱
