Technology to the rescue!

A Young female presented with an acute onset of severe breathing difficulty. Earlier, she had been evaluated at another health facility, where she had been diagnosed as a case of anxiety neurosis. Detailed evaluation however, revealed that she was actually suffering from a very serious condition,n Pulmonary Embolism (blood clots in the lungs ). This serious condition often goes undetected and leads to death in many cases if not treated urgently.

Once diagnosed, usual treatment is heavy blood thinner injections to dissolve blood clots . But here we encountered another problem. Pt . had very low platelet count (40,000) which meant blood thinners could cause uncontrollable bleeding ,risking her life .

Dr Vinesh Jain with Cardiac Team Cygnus rainbow cardiac care Agra , performed MECHANICAL PULMONARY THROMBECTOMY with PENUMBRA CAT 8 INDIGO system . This device has a catheter which is taken into the arteries of the lungs and from there clots are removed with the help of suction pressure. This way without exposing pt to risk of bleeding, clots were removed . Pt. Showed dramatic improvement and relief in her symptoms, saving her life .

This is the first such case of mechanical pulmonary thrombectomy in the region . The technology will hopefully save more lives in future.

Another step forward in complex coronary intervention . FIRST IN THE REGION
Recently performed ORBITAL ATHERECTOMY THERAPY in a patient with complex calcific coronary artery disease. The unique technique literally sands off (cleans) the hard obstructions in the coronary artery at 80K to 120K rotation speeds . Helping open up tough , long blockages in heart arteries of various sizes ( one size fits all ). Helps achieve very good final artery lumen size and flow with perfect stent apposition in cases where stenting is usually unsuccessful.
A safer , less invasive, faster recovering and patient friendly alternative to bypass surgery in many cases.

Technology saving Lives

Elderly, Frail gentleman presented in gasping state with 10/ min pulse . Diagnosed as degenerative complete heart block . Immediately temporary pacing done . What next ?

Problem: elderly, extremely frail status, early dementia, low immunity, uncooperative patient. No way he could tolerate long traditional pacemaker implantation surgery , anaesthesia, 3-4 day post op stay and related later wound care. High chance of implant infection and failure.

Solution: A small bullet sized leadless pacemaker. No operation , no wound incision/sutures no Anaesthesia . 20 minutes proceedure . Good to go home next day .Case done . Uneventful.
Pt discharged safely . Doing good on follow up .

A Day to Remember!

Thrilled to conduct a workshop on complex Angioplasty techniques at Rainbow Cardiac Care in Ujaala Cygnus Hospital, Agra with Internationally Renowned Master of Intervention cardiology Prof IMAD SHEIBAN from ITALY 🇮🇹. Difficult angioplasty cases of chronically totally occluded heart arteries were successfully opened. Rotablation drill was used to clear severe calcification in few cases. Also, complex bifurcation lesions were expertly treated. All were done under imaging guidance of High-definition Intravascular Ultrasound. With the grace of Almighty, all cases were completed successfully.
Incidentally In 2011 , had the great fortune to watch and learn tricks of complex angioplasty from Dr Sheiban himself, at his Cardiac centre in Turin , Italy. Honoured to get an opportunity to conduct a workshop with the legend here in agra now after 12 years !

Yet another case of complex calcium accumulation in heart arteries causing severe blockage . All routine techniques of stenting had failed . Finally drilling with Rotapro under high definition imaging helped to bring relief to the patient. Excellent final result.

With this we have Completed 1 yr since our acquisition of the latest technology rotablation machine ROTAPRO ( 1st in UP). Over the last year , several patients with severe calcified arteries of the heart , otherwise advised for Bypass surgery ( since routine stenting was not possible) came to us . Using high definition Intravascular ultrasound ( for accurate imaging and procedure planning ) and ROTAPRO drilling in heart vessels, we were able to do stenting with safety and got really good results. Bringing happiness to so many families

(Currently these techniques are being used exclusively by Dr Jain in the entire region)
