Epilepsy needs no introduction, it is the second most common and frequently encountered neurological condition causing heavy burden on patients, families, and even healthcare systems. If it is drug resistant it is even more devastating. Drug Resistant Epilepsy or DRE is a condition where 2 or more epilepsy medication does not work any more on seizures.
VNS (Vagal Nerve Stimulation) is one of the surgical treatment options for DRE- Drug resistant (People who continue to have seizures despite trying two or more medications). Besides seizures, is also associated with other comorbid conditions such as loss, increased risk of accidents/injuries, frequent hospitalisations, as well as compromised of patients and their families, including social stigma.

𝐊𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐃𝐢𝐞𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐩𝐬𝐲
The classic ketogenic diet (KD) is a special high-fat, adequate protein and low-carbohydrate diet which is one of the treatment options to help control seizures in people with drug resistant epilepsy.

𝗔 𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘁 "𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼" 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱.
For people who cannot follow strict 4:1 ratio due to any reasons, modified Atkin’s diet (MAD) or Low glycemic index therapy (LGIT) with a less stricter ratio can be considered.
