Chest pain: Gas or Heart Attack?
Do not assume every chest discomfort is only gas.
Gas or acidity may cause burning in the upper abdomen, sour belching, bloating, or symptoms related to meals. But a heart attack can also feel like indigestion or acidity.
Be especially alert if chest discomfort feels like pressure, heaviness, squeezing, or tightness; spreads to the arm, shoulder, back, neck, jaw, or stomach; or comes with breathlessness, cold sweating, nausea, dizziness, or sudden weakness.

If pain lasts more than a few minutes, returns repeatedly, or does not improve, seek urgent medical evaluation. Do not delay by repeatedly taking only gas medicines.
People with diabetes, high BP, high cholesterol, smoking history, or older age should be extra careful because heart-related symptoms may sometimes be mild or atypical.

When in doubt, it is safer to get checked early.
