If there is one piece of advice I wish everyone understood, it’s this: don’t treat skin and hair problems with random medications or viral products without knowing the cause.
Your skin and hair are not isolated organs. They are often the first place your body shows signs of an internal imbalance.
Persistent acne may be linked to hormonal fluctuations, insulin resistance, or chronic inflammation. Excessive hair fall can be associated with low ferritin (iron stores), vitamin D deficiency, thyroid dysfunction, B12 deficiency, stress-induced cortisol elevation, or even inadequate protein intake.
Many people start taking biotin supplements or use strong medicated creams after watching social media videos. The truth is, if your body is deficient in iron or your thyroid levels are abnormal, no expensive serum or hair oil will fully solve the problem — it can only help so much.
As a cosmetologist, one of the smartest investments you can make before buying another product is getting a basic health evaluation:
✔️ CBC
✔️ Ferritin
✔️ Vitamin D
✔️ Vitamin B12
✔️ Thyroid Profile (starting with TSH)
✔️ Blood Sugar / HbA1c
✔️ Hormonal profile when clinically indicated
Medications should always match the diagnosis. Taking unnecessary steroids, antibiotics, or high-dose supplements without medical supervision can disrupt your skin barrier and gut microbiome, and undermine the very results you’re hoping for.
Beautiful skin and healthy hair are rarely the result of one miracle cream. They are the outcome of good nutrition, balanced hormones, proper sleep, stress management, and scientifically guided treatment — and that starts with understanding what your body is actually telling you.
