💉 Once-Weekly Insulin is Here! Watch as dr ravi shah, endocrinologist explains

Insulin Icodec is the world’s first once-weekly basal insulin, offering a new option for people with diabetes who require long-acting insulin.

✅ Only one basal insulin injection every week
✅ Can improve convenience and treatment adherence
✅ Especially beneficial for selected patients with Type 2 Diabetes
✅ Flexible timing—same day every week

However, it is not suitable for everyone.

❗ It replaces only basal insulin, not mealtime insulin.
❗ It is generally costlier than daily basal insulin.
❗ The weekly dose is usually based on 7 times your daily basal insulin dose, but the correct starting dose and adjustments should always be decided by your endocrinologist.
❗ In Type 1 Diabetes, it requires extra caution due to a higher risk of hypoglycemia.
