Our final Rwanda trek.

10+ kilometres.
Dense forest.
Mount Bisoke.
Approximately 9,500 feet.

And deep inside the forest…

Six powerful silverbacks and a four-month-old baby.

Strength. Protection. Family. Hope.

Two gorilla treks. One golden monkey trek. Countless lessons from the forest.

An unforgettable farewell to Rwanda.

Into Rwanda’s bamboo forests — in search of the golden monkey

Today, Reeta and I trekked through Volcanoes National Park to encounter one of Rwanda’s most fascinating primates — the endangered golden monkey.

Golden-orange fur, dark limbs, expressive faces and incredible agility — watching them move through the bamboo was a beautiful experience.

One moment stood out in particular: a mother carrying her tiny infant close to her as she moved through the forest.

Wildlife encounters like these are about much more than photographs. They offer a glimpse into family, survival and the importance of protecting the habitats these animals depend upon.

The trek itself required stamina, balance and patience — another reminder of the value of staying active and physically prepared for the experiences we want to enjoy.

Keep moving. Stay curious. Respect nature.

A very tough climb. An unforgettable reward.

Today’s gorilla trek through Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park challenged us more than we expected.

⛰️ Elevation: approximately 8,551 ft
🌡️ Temperature: around 19°C
🥾 Terrain: steep, uneven and surrounded by dense jungle

Every step demanded endurance, balance and concentration.

And then came the moment we had travelled so far for — sitting quietly near mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.

Their strength, calmness, intelligence and extraordinary expressions left us completely humbled. It is difficult to describe what it feels like to be so close to these magnificent animals in the forest they call home.

The trek was also a reminder of why staying active matters. Regular walking, cardiovascular fitness, strength and balance prepare us not just for exercise — but for experiences like these.

Fitness helped us reach them. Nature reminded us to respect every step.

We have arrived in Rwanda!

Our journey has brought us to Singita Kwitonda Lodge, on the edge of Volcanoes National Park and at the foothills of the magnificent Virunga Massif.

At approximately 2,000–2,300 metres above sea level, we are surrounded by misty volcanic peaks, montane rainforest, bamboo forests and beautiful green valleys — the protected home of Rwanda’s endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkeys.

The cool mountain air and dramatic landscape already make this feel like a very different experience.

Today is about exploring the surroundings, absorbing the landscape and preparing for our first gorilla encounter.

There is something special about arriving at a place you have read about and anticipated — and finally seeing it come alive around you.

More from the forest soon.

Tomorrow, a very special journey begins.

We are heading to Rwanda, where one of the experiences I am most looking forward to is visiting Volcanoes National Park — home to the endangered mountain gorilla.

Just over 1,000 mountain gorillas remain in the wild today. Their survival and gradual recovery is an inspiring example of what years of dedicated conservation, research, veterinary care and community involvement can achieve.

Their story carries a simple message that resonates with me:

What we value, we must protect — consistently.

Whether we are speaking about wildlife, our environment or our own health, prevention requires attention long before a crisis arrives.

As we begin this journey tomorrow, I look forward not only to witnessing these extraordinary animals, but to learning more about the people, ecosystems and conservation efforts that protect them.

Travel can show us beautiful places. Sometimes, it can also change the way we think.

A Night to Remember in the Galápagos.

On our final nights in the Galápagos Islands, we experienced something unforgettable — sharks swimming peacefully around our yacht beneath the night sky.

Earlier in the day, we were surrounded by penguins, sea lions, and remarkable marine life thriving together in one of the world’s most balanced ecosystems.

Moments like these remind us:

Nature survives through balance and consistency — and so does health.

Over the past days, walking, snorkeling, and staying active have remained part of the journey.

Move daily. Stay active. Protect your heart.

Galápagos — Swimming with Sharks

An unforgettable experience in the Galápagos Islands — swimming underwater alongside sharks, moving calmly within their natural ecosystem.

What stands out is the balance — marine life coexisting peacefully when nature is respected.

Health, like nature, depends on balance and consistency.

Swimming and snorkeling are not just experiences — they’re powerful ways to stay active and strengthen the heart.

Stay active. Stay calm. Live in balance.

Exploring Yasuní National Park over the past two days has been truly unforgettable.

Canoeing through narrow jungle waterways, watching sunrise over the endless rainforest canopy, and encountering remarkable wildlife — from tree boas resting quietly on leaves to birds high above the forest floor.

Yasuní is not just a rainforest — it is one of the most biodiverse places on Earth.
A powerful reminder of how interconnected life truly is.

Moments like these go beyond travel —
they bring perspective, calm, and a deeper appreciation for nature.

Stay active. Stay connected to nature. Keep moving.
