The fracture healed, but the knee remained stiff.
A patient presented 5 months after tibia fracture surgery with severe knee stiffness and restricted range of motion despite rehabilitation efforts.
Post-traumatic knee stiffness can occur due to scar tissue formation, adhesions, prolonged immobilization, and inflammation around the joint. When conservative measures fail, surgical intervention may be required to restore mobility.
Through arthroscopic arthrolysis, the adhesions were carefully released, allowing improved knee movement and paving the way for effective rehabilitation.
Early recognition and timely treatment of knee stiffness can significantly improve long-term function and quality of life.
