AMU’s Department of Pharmacology Gets New Chairman
ALIGARH, August 8: Prof Farhan Ahmad Khan, Department of Pharmacology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has been appointed Chairman of the department for a period of three years with effect from August 8, 2026.
Prof Khan is a clinical pharmacologist and Consultant, Drug & Poison Information Centre (DPIC), JNMC Hospital. He completed his MBBS and M.D. in Pharmacology from JNMC, AMU, and also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Diabetology and a Certificate Course in Clinical Management of Diabetes. He has been serving as Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, JNMC, since December 2020.
His research interests include rational use of medicines, pharmacogenetics, antimicrobial resistance, pharmacovigilance, anti-diabetic agents, immunopharmacology and oncology. He has supervised research projects on pharmacogenomics-guided treatment, antimicrobial resistance, diabetes, breast cancer and adverse drug reactions.
Prof Khan has received several professional honours, including the National Spotlight Award by the National Association of Pharmacology & Therapeutics and Fellowship of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, Royal College of Physicians, UK. He is also a Trustee for Senior Academic Leadership of the British Pharmacology Society, UK, and a Global Member of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, UK.
