ALCOHOL DESTROYED HIS HIPS AT 30, WE GAVE HIM A NEW PAIR !!
A 30-year-old patient came to us with severe pain in both hips, struggling even with basic daily activities like walking and sitting.
The cause? Avascular Necrosis (AVN) of both hip joints — a condition where the blood supply to the bone is disrupted, leading to bone collapse.
In this case, long-term alcohol use was a major contributing factor.
🔍 What was the problem?
Chronic alcohol consumption can damage blood vessels supplying the hip joint, eventually causing AVN. When both hips are involved, it can be devastating—especially in such a young patient.
🦴 The Solution: Bilateral Hip Replacement
Given the advanced stage of damage, bilateral total hip replacement surgery was performed. This procedure replaces the damaged hip joints with artificial implants, relieving pain and restoring mobility.
📸 What you see in the images:
• Pre-operative X-rays: Collapse and deformity of both femoral heads
• Post-operative X-rays: Well-aligned artificial hip joints with restored joint space
✅ Outcome:
The patient is now walking comfortably, pain-free, and has returned to an active lifestyle.
⚠️ Take-Home Message:
AVN can affect young individuals, especially with risk factors like alcohol abuse. Early diagnosis can sometimes save the joint—but in advanced cases, joint replacement offers excellent results.
💬 If you or someone you know has persistent hip pain, don’t ignore it. Early evaluation can make all the difference.
