🌡️ Viral Fever: Why Kidney Patients Need Extra Care

Viral fever may seem like a common illness, but for people with kidney disease—and especially kidney transplant patients—it can require extra attention.

A viral infection, fever, dehydration, reduced food or fluid intake, or certain medications can put additional stress on the kidneys. For kidney transplant recipients, infections may also need prompt medical evaluation because they take immunosuppressive medicines that can affect their immune response.

⚠️ Kidney & transplant patients should not ignore:
• Persistent or high fever
• Reduced urine output
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Severe weakness or dehydration
• Swelling or breathing difficulty
• Changes in blood pressure
• Any unusual symptoms after a transplant

💧 Do not self-medicate, especially with painkillers or antibiotics. Some medicines may affect kidney function or interact with transplant medicines.
