Dr Niket Patel Medical Director of Akanksha Hospital anand talks about the pivotal moment that drew him into field of IVF - when HE joined AKANKSHA Hospital in 2014-15 and encountered a 39-40 year old patient who had failed three to four embryo transfers. HIS senior believed that sometimes a change of hands can make a difference, and she encouraged him to perform the next transfer. This experience became the catalyst that shaped his career in fertility medicine.

We discuss a remarkable case of a patient who had failed multiple IVF attempts, fibroid removal, and endometriosis treatment. Instead of recommending surrogacy, we offered an innovative approach combining hysteroscopy with endometrial stem cell therapy and uterine artery spiral arterial stem cell injection through the femoral artery. Through this cell therapy treatment, we gradually restored her uterine lining, enabling a successful embryo transfer that resulted in the birth of twin boys. We discuss the latest medical update from May 2026 where PCOS and PCOD have been replaced by PMOS (PolyEndocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome). We break down what this new terminology means: PolyEndocrine refers to multi-hormone involvement including LH, FSH, androgen, and insulin imbalances; Metabolic encompasses weight management issues and long-term risks like diabetes and cardiovascular disease; and Ovarian reflects that the condition involves immature follicles rather than actual cysts. We explain why this new definition is more accurate and representative of the true condition, since many PCOS patients don’t actually show typical ovarian cysts on ultrasound.
