ದೀರ್ಘಕಾಲದ ಮೂತ್ರಪಿಂಡದ ಕಾಯಿಲೆ (CKD), ಅಧಿಕ ರಕ್ತದೊತ್ತಡ (Hypertension) ಹಾಗೂ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಪಾರ್ಶ್ವವಾಯು (Old CVA) ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದ ರೋಗಿಯು ಪ್ರಜ್ಞಾ ಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿದರು. ತಪಾಸಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮರುಕಳಿಸಿದ ತೀವ್ರ ಇಸ್ಕೆಮಿಕ್ ಪಾರ್ಶ್ವವಾಯು (Recurrent Acute Ischemic Stroke) ದೃಢಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು, ಮೆದುಳಿನ ಎರಡೂ ಭಾಗಗಳ ವಾಟರ್‌ಶೆಡ್ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ (Bilateral Watershed Infarcts) ಇನ್ಫಾರ್ಕ್ಟ್‌ಗಳು ಕಂಡುಬಂದವು.
