I resonate deeply with Lissa's article, and I also, hold more.
It is not a surprise that it is again, a WOman who is calling this out, and I feel that is a gift we have if we truly begin to move from and listen to our pelvic floor and gut knowing.
As a woman, I have felt and sensed this about men in "so-called", "so-granted", "so-perceived" positions of power, authority, and leadership in close proximity and interaction as contraction, tightness, and suffocation in my body, sometimes momentarily, and sometimes more prolonged as "not ok". However, flooded with guilt and ruled by systemic social, cultural, and spiritual conditioning, and resorting to suppress, dismiss, ignore, and bypass these sensations to return back to belonging and allowing, and in the process, losing access to my own truth.
Finally in 2010 my body collapsed and said No, and refused to partake in my conditioning. All the relationships I knew collapsed. I lost pre-existing maps of showing up in relationships.
Without any choice, I paused to decipher the language of my body.
It has taken me more than a decade and I am still learning to earth land into my body - my pelvic bowl and the gut that there is slow clearing of held conditioning in my sight, resulting in the collapse and disappearance of podiums, altars, pedestals, high seats in my inside and also, outside. Finally making me see people in their earth position without the height difference. Phew! WHAT A RELIEF IT HAS BEEN AND ALSO SHOCKING TO A GREAT EXTENT OF WHAT I SAW AND MOVED THRU BEFORE NOW.
So when Epstein files came, and all these news came, it pained me deeply, but it didnot shock me. I hope more and more these pedestals can start collapsing, and we can all stand on the Earth as human beings - not different but the same in who we are.
If you are an Indian then you, as an adult person, are definitely used to putting people on pedestals, be it God, Parents, Guru, politicians, Actors, Sports Stars, and so on and so on. Unless that pedestal can collapse, know that you are not seeing the truth about someone. WHat you see if a distorted truth, a distorted view. That also means you have not yet met who you are, and you have also not met the truth of your life. The Pedestal doesn't let you see the truth of anything, and comes in the way of everything.
I had to first let go of my pedestal, and step down and come into my human vulnerabilities - my own coping, adpations and addictions that keep me from acknowledging all the places I hurt, was hurt, those I hurt, and those (that) I judge as wrong or right, good or bad.
It is when the awareness of these filters and conditioning have become clearer and clearer, and I am ok to be who I am - not better, not worse, not good, not bad - just me, that life slowly makes itself available more and more. Even "God" reliance is falling of, and something more humbler and ordinary and simple is emerging as mysterious.
It requires me to give up my reliance on the known territories of all my learnings governed and held in my head, and move from the here and now landscape of the unknown viscera of my pelvic bowl and gut in the - here and now. It reveals and carries me in ways I never thought possible.
It is a journey I am only beginning to allow, land and move from and through as I have found more and more resources to lean in, and I have found more and more reliance in my own authority and autonomy as an Adult Woman. I am looking forward to the discovery more and more into life, relationships and the future.
Life is ordinary. The Ordinary is a mystery. Period.
My search for the extra-ordinary has ceased even though old conditionings often re-surface.
I write this whole "Ramayan" to share that even, though this article is there, what you will first meet as you read is not Lissa's words but your own judgement, your own struggle with truth, your own pedestal.
Allow that.
Perhaps when that calms is when you may be able to read this article and perhaps then you may even, know more.
