What a week it’s been!

World Kidney Day 2026 turned into a marathon week of meaningful conversations, awareness, and heartfelt moments.

At Manipal Hospital, Varthur Road, we began by sharing a little love with our dialysis patients—small gestures for people whose courage inspires us every single day. We also set up a Kidney Photo Booth with a QR code linking to a simple kidney risk questionnaire, turning a fun moment into an opportunity for awareness.

We spent an afternoon with our doctor colleagues discussing kidney services and reflecting on the many lessons difficult clinical cases have taught us over the past year.

One of the most fulfilling moments was meeting senior citizens from the surrounding community—talking about kidney health, sharing practical tips, and answering their thoughtful questions.

I also had the privilege of speaking on kidney health to the International Aggarwal Women’s Association and moderating an important session for the Rotary Club on organ donation—two wonderful platforms to continue spreading awareness about kidney disease and the life-saving power of transplantation.

And of course, the most heartwarming part of all was honouring our Kidney Champions—remarkable individuals who continue to live with courage and hope despite kidney disease.

Weeks like these remind me how powerful awareness, community, and human resilience can be.

Because behind every kidney story is a human story—and every story deserves to be heard. 💙

Can your kidneys recover?
Yes, sometimes. And timing makes all the difference.

Not all kidney damage is permanent.
Sudden kidney injury due to dehydration, infection, medicines, or blockage can often recover completely if detected and treated early.

But long-standing damage from diabetes, high blood pressure, or chronic kidney disease cannot be reversed. In advanced stages, dialysis or kidney transplant may become necessary.

The key lesson?
👉 Early diagnosis saves kidneys.
👉 Ignoring symptoms or delaying treatment can turn a reversible problem into lifelong disease.

Get your kidney function checked.
Avoid unnecessary painkillers and supplements.
Don’t self-medicate.
Your kidneys may be silent, but they deserve attention.

My views 👇🏽

The kidneys are remarkably resilient organs, working silently every minute to filter waste, regulate fluids, control blood pressure, and maintain electrolyte balance.
