🍃50 gms peanuts
🍃Salt to taste
🍃¼ tsp black pepper

🍃1/2 tsp chaat masala (add after cooking)
🍃1/2 tsp red chili powder
🍃5-6 garlic gloves

Instructions:

Overall, plain roasted makhana is a healthy, satisfying snack that can fit well into most balanced diets.

GOOD FATS vs BAD FATS - Not All Fats Are the Same!

Body needs healthy fats to function well.

💚 GOOD FATS:

✅ Support heart health ❤️
✅ Improve brain function 🧠
✅ Help absorb vitamins A, D, E & K
✅ Keep you full for longer

Best sources:
🥑 Avocado
🐟 Fatty fish (bangda, mathi, salmon)
🫒 Olive oil
🌰 Walnuts & almonds
🌱 Flaxseeds & chia seeds

❤️ LIMIT BAD FATS:

⚠️ Excess saturated fats and trans fats can:
❌ Increase LDL (“bad”) cholesterol
❌ Raise the risk of heart disease
❌ Promote inflammation
❌ Contribute to weight gain when eaten in excess.

Foods to eat less often:
🍟 Deep-fried foods
🍔 Fast food
🍩 Doughnuts & pastries
🍪 Packaged snacks and bakery products
🥓 Processed meats

💡 Remember: Fat isn’t the enemy, choosing the right type and eating the right amount is what matters.

🌿 Healthy swaps:
🥜 Choose nuts instead of chips.
🐟 Eat fish instead of processed meats.
🫒 Cook with healthier oils and avoid repeated use of the same cooking oil for deep frying.
🍽️ Fill your plate with whole, minimally processed foods.

Omega-3 vs Omega-6: The Fat Facts You Need to Know!

Not all fats are created equal and understanding the difference between Omega-3 and Omega-6 can make a big impact on your health.

We often focus on how much fat we eat, but the type of fat matters even more.

💙 Omega-3 (The Healthy Fat)

✅ Supports heart health ❤️
✅ Boosts brain function 🧠
✅ Helps reduce inflammation
✅ Good sources: Fatty fish (Indian mackerel/bangda, sardines/mathi,salmon), flaxseeds (alsi), chia seeds, walnuts, and soybeans.

🧡 Omega-6 (Also Essential)

✅ Needed for growth and immunity.
✅ Found in sunflower, soybean, corn, and safflower oils, nuts, seeds & processed foods.
⚠️ Most Indian diets already provide plenty of Omega-6 through refined oils and processed foods.

💡 Remember: Omega-6 isn’t “bad.” The problem is that many of us consume too much Omega-6 and too little Omega-3. The key is balance.

🌿 Simple ways to increase Omega-3:
• Eat fatty fish 2–3 times a week.
• Add 1–2 tsp roasted flaxseed powder to curd, smoothies, or chapati dough.
• Include walnuts in your daily diet.
• Reduce deep-fried and ultra-processed foods.
• Use a variety of cooking oils instead of relying on just one refined oil.

✨ Healthy eating isn’t about perfection, it’s about making better choices every day.

Prebiotics vs. Probiotics:
What’s the Difference?

Both are essential for a healthy gut, but they play different roles.

🟡 Prebiotics = Food for your good gut bacteria.
They are types of fiber that nourish the beneficial microbes already living in your digestive system.

Good sources:
🍌 Banana
🧄 Garlic
🧅 Onion
🌱 Asparagus
🥣 Oats
🌾 Flaxseeds
🍄 Mushrooms
🥬 Cabbage

🟢 Probiotics = Live beneficial bacteria.
They help restore and maintain a healthy balance of gut microbes, especially after illness or antibiotics.

Good sources:
🥣 Yogurt
🥛 Kefir
🥬 Sauerkraut
🌶️ Kimchi
🍲 Miso
🌱 Tempeh
🥒 Gherkins (naturally fermented, not vinegar-pickled)
🍹 Kombucha

The best gut-health strategy?
Don’t choose one over the other—include both in your diet. Prebiotics feed the good bacteria, while probiotics add more beneficial bacteria to your gut. Together, they support:
✔️ Better digestion
✔️ Stronger immunity
✔️ Improved nutrient absorption
✔️ A healthier gut microbiome

Note: Not all pickles are probiotic. Only naturally fermented gherkins contain live beneficial bacteria. Vinegar-pickled gherkins do not.

Which of these foods do you eat regularly? Let us know in the comments!

In continuation of my previous post:

What does cortisol do?

Cortisol helps your body:

🧠 Respond to stress and stay alert
⚡ Regulate energy by controlling blood sugar
❤️ Maintain blood pressure
🛡️ Control inflammation and support immune function
🌅 Follow your natural sleep-wake cycle (highest in the morning, lowest at night).

Is cortisol bad?

No. Cortisol is essential for good health.

Problems arise when cortisol stays too high or too low for a long time.

High cortisol (chronic stress) may contribute to:

Poor sleep
Anxiety or irritability
Increased belly fat
* High blood sugar
* High blood pressure
* Frequent cravings for sugary or salty foods
* Fatigue despite feeling “wired”

Low cortisol can cause:

* Extreme tiredness
* Dizziness
* Low blood pressure
* Weight loss
* Muscle weakness

Cortisol naturally rises in the morning to help you wake up and falls at night to prepare your body for sleep. This daily rhythm is normal and healthy. The goal isn’t to “eliminate cortisol” it’s to support a healthy, balanced cortisol pattern.
