When choosing a school, don’t choose only based on the curriculum. Choose the place where your child is nurtured, understood and cared for—the place where they can learn with confidence, grow with joy and reach their fullest potential.

And if you have concerns about your child’s development, seek help early. Early identification and intervention can change the course of a child’s future.

Every child learns differently. The best school is the one where your child feels understood, nurtured and supported to thrive. šŸ’›

If you’re worried about your child, trust your instincts. Listen without judgement, ask directly if you’re concerned, and seek help early.

Following my previous post on preschool readiness, here’s the checklist I mentioned to help parents understand when a child is truly ready for preschool—and when it may be time to seek professional help. 🌱

Save this post and share it with parents who may find it helpful.

Parents are the first teachers. Home is the first nursery. ā¤ļø

A journey through the history of preschool—from Kindergarten and Montessori to Gijubhai Badheka, Tarabai Modak and Anganwadis—and why preschool is a wonderful addition to childhood, but never a replacement for a secure parent-child relationship.

A school can open a classroom. Only a secure relationship opens a child’s brain.

Before we introduce an AI or connected toy into our child’s life, it’s worth asking not just ā€œWhat can this toy do?ā€ but also ā€œWhat is it teaching my child—and what data is it collecting?ā€

At home, we’ve chosen a balanced approach:
šŸŖ€ We still enjoy traditional games like Ali Guli Mane (Ali Hulu).
šŸŽŽ Every Dasara, we bring home Channapatna, Kondapalli and Varanasi lacquer toys, celebrating India’s rich toy-making heritage.
šŸŽ¬ Toy Story 5 has sparked many conversations in our family about toys, technology and what children truly need from play.
šŸ“± And as parents, we try to model healthy technology and social media habits ourselves.

Parents should also know that India has important legal safeguards:
āœ”ļø The Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023 requires parental consent before processing a child’s personal data.
āœ”ļø Toys sold in India should comply with BIS/ISI safety standards.
āœ”ļø Harmful digital content involving children is covered under the Information Technology Act and POCSO.

If you already own a connected toy:
• Review its privacy settings.
• Turn off unnecessary permissions.
• Delete stored voice recordings regularly.
• Keep it in shared family spaces.
• Switch it off when not in use.Because play is serious business… it’s never just child’s play.
