India just crossed 20,000 organ transplants in a single year for the first time and became the world’s No. 1 nation for living donor transplants.
Behind every one of these numbers is a race against time: an organ has only a few precious hours to travel from donor to recipient. That window is where ICATT Air Ambulance Services has spent the last several years quietly building the infrastructure that makes transplantation possible at scale.
Since our founding, ICATT has been at the forefront of organ airlifting in India designing and standardising the SOPs that bridge hospitals, retrieval teams, and aviation, so that a heart, lung, or liver can move seamlessly from an OT in one city to an OT in another, with every minute accounted for. We’ve executed organ airlifts in record time, working hand-in-hand with transplant surgeons and retrieval teams to build protocols that are now part of how India moves organs by air.
We’ve also worked upstream of the airlift through the National Organ Donation Awareness Campaign (NODAC), which we’ve led as Campaign Head & Creative Director, enrolling 4,000+ organ pledges and mobilising medical students as campus ambassadors, because a transplant ecosystem is only as strong as the donors willing to give.
The NOTTO report shows deceased donor transplants still fall far short of demand. That’s the next frontier and it’s exactly where aviation medicine, hospital coordination, and public awareness need to keep converging.
