"I used to maintain a gratitude journal," he says, "It was fun for a few days and felt good, but then I started noticing that all I was writing there were things like - 'That perfect temperature in my shower,' or, 'Late night hunger and found enough pesto for a sandwich at 2am,' or, 'After 2 years, finally my water lily bloomed!' It felt so cheesy. I just stopped."
"You enjoyed writing that for a while," she said, and he nodded, "And then, that critical voice came in, started judging what you were grateful for as too little, too cheesy, too corny and whatever, and you stopped."
He sighed, "That's exactly what happened."
