🚨 Don’t let the front of the pack fool you.

Recently, FSSAI issued notices to several food brands over allegedly misleading branding, labeling, or product claims.

Here’s why these brands were questioned:

• Emami Healthy & Tasty – Use of the word “Healthy” in the brand name, which may imply an overall health benefit.

• Healthy Master – Brand name and marketing that could create an impression that all products are inherently healthy.

• Healthy Choice – The term “Healthy Choice” may mislead consumers into believing the products are healthier than alternatives.

• The Healthy Factory – Use of “Healthy” as part of the brand identity without regulatory basis for such a blanket claim.

• Neuherbs – Health and nutrition claims on supplements/products questioned for compliance.

• Plan B – Promotional health claims and labeling under scrutiny.

• Troovy – Claims such as “True Vitamin” and related nutrition messaging questioned.

• Health Aid – Brand name and health-related claims examined for potentially misleading consumers.

• Raw Pressery – Claims like “No Added Sugar” and front-of-pack messaging reviewed for possible consumer misinterpretation.

• Saffola Total Heart Pro – Heart-health related claims questioned for compliance with FSSAI regulations.

• MasterChow – “Zero Maida” claim and product labeling examined.

• Kinder Joy – Nutrition and front-of-pack communication reviewed.

• Bikanervala – Product labeling and health-related claims questioned.

• Param Dairy – Labeling and product claims examined by FSSAI.

⚠️ Important: An FSSAI notice does not mean a product is unsafe or that a company has been found guilty. It means the regulator has raised concerns and sought clarification or corrective action regarding compliance with food regulations.

As a dietitian, my advice remains the same:
✔️ Don’t buy a product because it says Healthy, Organic, Natural, Zero Maida, High Protein, or Multigrain.
✔️ Flip the pack.
✔️ Read the ingredient list.
✔️ Check the nutrition facts.
✔️ Make decisions based on facts—not marketing.

💬 Which of these brands s

🍚 Baby Maria’s Red Rice Meal 🍚

As Baby M approaches 8 months, we’re gradually moving away from smooth purées and introducing thicker, textured meals to support chewing, oral motor development, and texture acceptance.

✨ Ingredients:
• Red rice
• Toor dal
• Kidney beans
• Churi ki bhaji
• Onion
• Tomato
• 1 small piece beetroot
• Turmeric
• Black peppercorns

👩‍🍳 Method:
Soak the red rice, toor dal, and kidney beans for a few hours. Add them to a pressure cooker along with chopped onion, tomato, Churi ki bhaji, beetroot, turmeric, and black peppercorns. Cook until everything is soft and well done. Lightly mash to a soft, textured consistency suitable for your baby’s developmental stage.

🥩 Non-vegetarian option:
(Instead of kidney beans, add one medium-sized piece of chicken or mutton and pressure cook it along with the other ingredients.)

🥚🧈 Healthy fat boost:
Add ½–1 tsp ghee before serving or offer an egg yolk alongside the meal. Healthy fats are essential for growth, brain development, and the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins.

❤️ I also served beetroot separately as a finger food to encourage self-feeding, texture exploration, biting, and chewing skills.

At 7½ months, food is not just about nutrition—it’s also about learning, exploring, and building lifelong eating skills.

📌 Always modify textures according to your baby’s age, developmental readiness, and chewing abilities, and introduce foods individually while watching for any allergies.

🌾 Red Rice for Babies: A Wholesome Grain Worth Exploring!

As Baby Maria steps into her eighth month, I’m gradually expanding her grain options beyond regular rice. One grain I’m excited to introduce is red rice!

Unlike polished white rice, red rice retains its bran layer, making it naturally richer in fiber, iron, and antioxidants.

✨ Why red rice can be a great addition to your baby’s diet:
✔️ Provides sustained energy through complex carbohydrates
✔️ Supports healthy digestion with its natural fiber content
✔️ Contains iron, an important nutrient for growing babies
✔️ Rich in antioxidants that support overall health
✔️ Introduces new flavors and textures, helping babies develop acceptance of a wider variety of foods

For convenience, I prep it in batches:
🌞 Wash thoroughly
🌞 Sun-dry completely
🌞 Store in an airtight container

(Roasting is optional—I prefer using it without roasting.)

This simple prep makes it easy to prepare a nourishing meal whenever needed while preserving the goodness of the grain.

⚠️ Every baby is different. Introduce new foods one at a time and ensure they are cooked until soft and age-appropriate before serving.

Stay tuned for the next reel where I’ll share a simple and nutritious red rice recipe for your little one! 🍚👶🏻
