For years, I've met parents who tirelessly advocate for their children with disabilities or special needs.
But somewhere in the background, there's another story that often goes unheard....
The sibling who grows up a little too quickly.
The one who learns to be understanding before they're old enough to understand their own feelings....
The one who loves deeply, yet sometimes feels invisible, guilty, overwhelmed, protective, proud, lonely, or uncertain about the future....
Someone just like me....
And often, no one asks them, "How are you carrying all of this?"
So... if you are a sibling of a person with a disability or special needs, I want you to know this:
Your story matters too.

I'm planning to start HELD – A Space for Siblings, a monthly support circle where siblings can come together in a safe, confidential and compassionate environment to share, listen, learn and connect with others who truly understand.
This isn't about having all the answers.
It's about finding people who simply get it.

If this is something you would like to be part of—or if you know someone who might benefit—please leave a ❤️ in the comments or send me a private message. Do share this with people you know.

Sometimes, healing begins with knowing you're not the only one walking this path.
Let's create a space where siblings feel seen, heard, valued and HELD.

Because while everyone notices the child with special needs, many notice the primary caregivers or parents too... so someone also needs to notice the sibling.

Today, I'm delighted to share that I have become a member of the American Psychological Association (APA).

For me, this is more than a professional milestone—it's a commitment to lifelong learning, ethical practice, evidence-based care, and staying connected with the global psychology community.

As a dentist, counselling psychologist, psychotherapist, career counselor and holistic practitioner, I look forward to continuing to learn, grow, and serve with greater knowledge and compassion.

Grateful for everyone who has been a part of this journey. Here's to learning, growing, and making a meaningful difference—one person at a time.

Yesterday was truly a celebration of music, memories, and togetherness.

Our Janaki Special turned out to be far more than just a musical evening—it became a heartfelt tribute filled with nostalgia and joy. Song after song, voices kept filling the room, and the enthusiasm never faded.

What was most heartwarming was that even after 6:00 p.m., no one wanted to leave. The programme naturally extended to almost 7:00 p.m. because everyone wanted a chance to sing, participate, and relive the magic of Janaki Amma's timeless melodies.

A big thank you to every singer, every listener, and everyone who cheered each other on. Your energy, warmth, and love for music made the evening truly unforgettable.

Here's to many more evenings where music brings hearts together.

What a Beautiful Morning of Creativity, Connection & Healing!
My heart is full of gratitude after today's Neurographic Art for Emotional Wellness Workshop.
What started as a room full of blank sheets transformed into a space filled with colour, reflection, smiles, conversations, and meaningful moments. It was inspiring to watch participants of different ages let go of the fear of "doing it right" and simply trust the process.
Every artwork was unique. Every story was different. Yet we were all connected by one shared experience—taking a little time to pause, breathe, create, and reconnect with ourselves.
A heartfelt thank you to every participant for showing up with an open mind and an open heart. Your enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to explore made this workshop a wonderful success.
My sincere gratitude to the Canara Bank Colony Residents' Welfare Association, Inner Wheel Club of Vijayanagar, and everyone who supported and collaborated to make this event possible. Together, we created a space where emotional wellness met creativity.
This is just the beginning! I look forward to many more workshops where we continue to heal, express, and grow—one line, one curve, and one colour at a time.
"One line can change your mind. One curve can change your life."
With gratitude,

Emotional Support? More Like Emotional Sabotage.

Meet Mishti.Named after mishti doi— sweet, delicate, and smooth.
I now call her Dushti.
My daughter insisted on getting an Indie puppy 3 months ago. "Mama, she has the most AMAZING personality! Bahut pyaari hai. Foster hai. Uska koi nahi hai" she said.
She was not wrong. Unfortunately.
Exhibit A — The Terrace Excavation
Dushti dug up the entire terrace. Every. Single. Inch. Like she had a treasure map and a deadline. I spent today filling it back up with CEMENT. My back has filed for divorce from my body. Itna squat toh gym mein bhi kabhi nahi kiya bhaisaab.
And what does she do on the terrace now?
She stands at the edge and howls at anything that dares to move in front of our house. A leaf. A person. A breeze. Unacceptable. All of it. ..
Exhibit B — The Destruction Inventory
Every broom in the house — gone.
Every toy we bought her — demolished. Several items from my wardrobe — aggressively edited without consent.
Exhibit C — She's in her first heat.
Hormonal. Dramatic. Fussy. Unstoppable.
Basically me during my worst week, but with four legs and zero guilt.
Meanwhile, in the corner, sits Zorro — my firstbaby. Twelve years old. A Beagle. A gentleman. Docile. Dignified. Silent. The kind of dog who gives you a disapproving look and walks away slowly. He has spent this entire week looking at Dushti like —
"I did NOT sign up for this roommate."
My daughter says mishti is her emotional support animal.
For my daughter — emotional support
For Zorro — existential crisis
For me — emotional, physical, sartorial, and architectural destruction
I came home today — back broken, cement on my hands, wearing a half-chewed kurta, while Dushti howled at a dragonfly from the terrace
And she ran down, jumped on me, and licked my legs.
😭❤️
Mishti won. Dushti always wins.
Send help. Send painkillers. Send brooms. Send a structural engineer.
But please, pleasedon't take the dog.

My father never told us he was struggling.
That's the thing about dads like him — the financial stress, the sleepless nights, the weight of carrying an entire family, caring for a specially abled child, trying to secure his future. None of it ever reached us. We just saw him show up. Quietly. Consistently. Every single day. Till his last breath.
The day he had the heart attack that took him away — he was in pain, he knew it was serious — and the first thing he did was make Maggi and feed my brother. Because me and mom would take time to reach. That's love.
He didn't teach me through long conversations. He taught me by how he lived. By not complaining. By choosing dignity over drama, every single time.
And even today — in my clinic, in my practice, in the hard moments — I hear him. Not his exact words. Just his way.
That's what a father leaves behind. Not just memories. A way of being in the world.
To the dads showing up in ways their own fathers never did — you're breaking a cycle.
To the single dads who chose their children, every morning — your kids see you.
To the dads actively unlearning old patterns — this is the hardest work. And the most meaningful.
And to the single moms who've quietly been both parents — you belong on this list. Fully.
Fatherhood isn't a title. It's presence. Protection. Love that asks for nothing back.
Happy Father's Day ❤️

Saw this news about the 21 year old in Shahjahanpur who pretended to be a Brigadier... fake uniform, flag, bouncers, the whole setup. Failed NEET twice, and instead of telling his parents, he built an entire alternate life.
And honestly, my first reaction wasn't "how could he do this." It was... I get it. I get it more than I'd like to admit.
As a psychologist, I keep thinking about how much pressure we put on young people to BE something — not just do something, achieve something, but to BE it. Doctor banna hai, engineer banna hai. And when that doesn't happen, it doesn't feel like "I didn't clear an exam." It feels like "I am nothing now." Two very different sentences, but in our heads they collapse into the same thing.
So this boy didn't just lie. He created a whole identity he could live inside — because the real one had become unbearable to sit with. The uniform, the flag, the bouncers... that's not just arrogance, that's a kid who needed SO badly to feel like he mattered to someone, anyone, even strangers on the street.
But let's be honest also — understanding WHY someone does something is not the same as excusing it. What he did wasn't harmless. He impersonated a senior Army officer, wore a uniform he had no right to wear and walked around with hired "security" intimidating people in his way. That's not just a sad boy coping — that's fraud, it's disrespectful to every actual officer who earned that rank through years of sacrifice, and it could have ended very badly for him or someone else. His parents believing him for months also isn't innocent — at some point, "we didn't ask questions" becomes its own kind of failure.
So yes, compassion for the pain that drove him there. But also — consequences exist for a reason, and empathy doesn't mean pretending this was okay.
Maybe the real story here is both things at once — a system that makes failure feel like death, AND a young man who chose deception and disrespect over facing his truth. Both can be true. That's what makes it so uncomfortable, isn't it?
