Decades ago, a true fighter came into this world at Lakshmi Maternity and Surgical Center in Malleswaram. His name is Saurabh Suryaprakash, and he was born weighing just 950 grams.

In those days, long before Bangalore had the advanced neonatal intensive care networks we see today, our hospital ward became his entire world for three and a half months. Even with immature lungs and a tiny body, Saurabh faced down extreme adversity - fighting through jaundice, apnea, infections, and feeding difficulties. He didn’t just survive; he conquered.

Swapping the incubator for the sports court, Saurabh grew into an exceptional athlete, a champion badminton player, and an inspiring young man. But the most beautiful twist in his story? He chose the path of medicine.

Today, Saurabh has officially graduated as a doctor. Watching him stand tall with his proud parents at graduation fills my heart with a joy that words can barely capture. To close this perfect circle, he now aims to specialize in Pediatrics - ready to fight for the next generation of tiny warriors, just like he once fought for himself.

Saurabh, it has been the privilege to watch you grow from a vulnerable 950g baby into a brilliant colleague. Welcome to the fraternity, Dr. Saurabh. You were born a fighter, and you are going to make an extraordinary doctor! 🩺❤️

We focus a lot on food, exercise, and sleep.
But relationships matter too.

Meaningful human connection
supports mental health, immunity,
and overall well-being.

It doesn’t have to be many people.
Just a few real connections.

If this reminded you of someone,
reach out to them today.

Some habits don’t harm you immediately.
They build their effect over time.

To***co, excess alcohol, and ultra-processed foods
don’t cause damage in a day —
but repeated daily, they add up.

The good part is,
even small reductions make a difference.

You don’t need perfection.
You need better patterns.

Sleep is not a luxury.
It is repair time.

We often sacrifice it first —
and then wonder why energy, mood, and metabolism suffer.

Protecting sleep is one of the most powerful health decisions you can make.

If this was a reminder you needed,
share it with someone who stays up too late.

Health improves
when recovery improves.

Whole food, plant-predominant eating is not a trend.
It is biology.

When most of your plate comes from plants,
chronic disease risk decreases,
not because of magic,

but because the body functions better with real food!

Perfection is not required.
Direction is.

If this helps you,
share it with someone trying to improve their health.

Health is not built in hospitals.
It is built at the dining table.

Lifestyle Medicine isn’t complicated.
It’s just deeply forgotten.

These six pillars influence almost every chronic disease we see today.

Over the next few reels, we’ll explore each one.
Simply, realistically, and without extremes.

If this resonates, consider sharing it
with someone who is struggling,
or caring for a loved one with lifestyle-related illness.

Because health is not built in hospitals.
It’s built every day.

We defeated infections.
But we invited lifestyle diseases.

Heart disease, diabetes, BP, dementia are not “bad luck”. They are signs!

Treating them with pills alone is like mopping the floor without closing the tap.

Lifestyle Medicine focuses on the root cause - food, movement, sleep, stress, habits.

If you’re a parent who wants to stay healthy for your child, or an adult tired of increasing medicines - you’re in the right place!

Follow for science-backed, practical lifestyle medicine.

Happy to share that I have now gained a new qualification! I have now equipped myself with a degree in Lifestyle Medicine from the prestigious Christian Medical College, Vellore. My partner, Dr Rashi Tiwari and I were awarded the 2nd position in Academics. The course involved one year of online and in-person sessions at Vellore, with workbook activities, case presentations, group discussions, culinary sessions, exercise training and 4 days of examinations at the end. I must say, one of the tougher exams that I have appeared for, and probably the most satisfying, considering my age!

Looking forward to now spreading the knowledge that I have acquired to help improve the lifestyle of the children that I take care of in my practice. The surge of lifestyle illnesses like obesity, blood pressure, asthma and prediabetes in children and adolescents is extremely distressing and also quite scary. If tackled early and appropriately, most of these can be controlled and reversed before they cause long lasting damage, and I aim to do my bit.

I am now eager to share what I have learnt with you all. I will be posting information and videos on multiple topics related to lifestyle illnesses, as and when I get the time. Please feel free to message me with your comments, queries and suggestions! 😊
