Orthodontic Correction of Anterior Crowding
The patient presented with a chief complaint of crowding in the upper and lower anterior teeth, which affected the aesthetics of her smile. She was highly motivated to undergo orthodontic treatment to improve her dental appearance and smile confidence.
Comprehensive orthodontic treatment was initiated using fixed appliances. The primary treatment objective was the alignment and leveling of the crowded anterior dentition while achieving optimal occlusal and aesthetic outcomes.
A piggyback archwire technique was employed to facilitate the alignment of the displaced maxillary lateral incisor. Particular attention was paid to achieving proper torque expression and root positioning of the lateral incisor. Additionally, the canine was corrected to an ideal torque and positional relationship within the dental arch.
Treatment progressed efficiently over approximately 16 months, resulting in well-aligned arches, correction of anterior crowding, and a harmonious smile. The final occlusion demonstrated Class I molar and canine relationships, with ideal overjet and overbite, contributing to both functional stability and aesthetic enhancement.
To maintain the treatment results, retention was achieved using a bonded lingual retainer supplemented with removable Essix retainers. The patient completed treatment with a pleasing smile, improved dental alignment, and enhanced confidence as she transitioned into college life.
