World Thalassemia Day.
Thalassemia is a hereditary blood disorder. It reduces the body's ability to produce hemoglobin, which leads to difficulties in transporting oxygen through the blood. Patients suffering from this condition often require regular blood transfusions to stay healthy.
Our Responsibilities & Awareness:
Blood Test Before Marriage: The most effective way to prevent Thalassemia is for both the bridge and groom to undergo a blood test (Hb-Electrophoresis) before marriage. If both partners are "carriers" of the Thalassemia gene, there is a high risk that their child will be born with the disease.
A Carrier is Not a Patient: It is important to remember that a carrier can lead a completely healthy and normal life. The risk only arises when two carriers conceive a child.
Donate Blood: For Thalassemia patients, donated blood is their primary lifeline. Please come forward and donate blood regularly to help save lives.
Conclusion
Thalassemia is not a contagious disease; rather, it is preventable through awareness.
Let’s be aware and build a Thalassemia-free society.
