📢 Important Notification | UPSAHC & NCAHP Guidelines 2026-27

As per the directions issued by the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP), Government of India and implemented by the Uttar Pradesh State Allied & Healthcare Council (UPSAHC), important changes have been introduced for Allied & Healthcare courses from Academic Session 2026-27.

🔹 NCAHP Letter No.: Z/103/2024-AHS-DOHFW Department dated 15.05.2026
🔹 UPSAHC Letter No.: 23/UPSAHC/2026-27 dated 12 May 2026
✅ Key updates include:
• Revised nomenclature of diploma courses
• New course duration with internship
• Updated minimum & maximum intake capacity for UG & PG courses
• Clarification regarding PG admission eligibility in approved Allied & Healthcare programs
🎓 Important Course Updates:
• Diploma of Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Technology (D.AOTT)
• Diploma of Radiotherapy Technology (D.RT)
• Diploma of Dialysis Technology (D.DT)
• Diploma of Health Information Management (D.HIM)
⏳ All diploma programs will now be of 2.5 years duration including 6 months internship.
🏥 Institutions running Allied & Healthcare courses are instructed to implement these norms from Academic Session 2026-27 onwards.

What the Court is Saying (Core Message)
*The Court is basically holding that:Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists are independent healthcare professionals under the NCAHP Act* — not merely “assistants” to doctors.
And the Court refused to restrict (read down) their professional scope.

The petitioners IAPMR wanted the Court to limit the scope of practice of physiotherapists and Occupational Therapist treating them as only support staff for doctors under the NMC Act.
⚖️ *The Court said: Parliament has already defined their scope.*
There is no compelling reason to reduce or narrow it.
Courts usually do not dilute Parliamentary laws unless absolutely necessary.
*👉 Meaning: The professional rights given under the NCAHP Act remain intact.*

They are qualified professionals — not paramedical aides
The Court highlighted:
These professionals undergo minimum 3600+ hours of structured education.
Degree awarded under the NCAHP framework.
Training is extensive and formal.
*👉 This establishes professional status, not a technician/helper role.*

*Scope of services allowed*
The Court acknowledges that healthcare professionals under NCAHP can provide:
✅ Preventive
✅ Curative
✅ Rehabilitative
✅ Therapeutic
✅ Promotive health services
*That is a broad clinical role, not a limited supportive one.*

*Important Limitation* (Very Clear)
*However, the Court also clarified:*
❌ They cannot prescribe medicines
❌ They cannot give allopathic medical treatment
*The Court upheld the professional autonomy and statutory scope of physiotherapists under the NCAHP Act while maintaining the boundary that medical prescription and allopathic treatment remain with registered medical practitioners.*

🔹 BPT (Bachelor of Physiotherapy) डिग्रीधारी फिजियोथेरेपिस्ट “Dr.” प्रीफिक्स एवं “PT” suffix का उपयोग NCAHP फिजियोथेरेपी करिकुलम के अनुसार कर सकते हैं।
