🌙🤱 Night Feeds Matter More Than You Think!

Breastfeeding your baby during the day is important—but night feeds also play a key role in maintaining your breast milk supply.

The hormone responsible for milk production is naturally higher at night. Regular night breastfeeding helps support milk production, while consistently skipping night feeds may gradually reduce your milk supply.

For new mothers, tiredness can make night feeds challenging—but understanding their importance can help you make informed choices for you and your baby.

Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy (TLH) is a minimally invasive procedure to remove the uterus through small abdominal incisions.

✨ Benefits of TLH:
• Smaller incisions & better cosmetic results
• Less postoperative pain
• Less blood loss
• Shorter hospital stay
• Faster recovery & early return to routine activities
• Lower risk of wound-related complications

A uterus can be removed—without a large abdominal incision. ❤️

🤱 5 Common Breastfeeding Mistakes New Mothers Should Avoid

Breastfeeding may feel natural, but getting the right technique and support can make a big difference.

Here are 5 common mistakes I frequently see in my OPD:

1️⃣ Poor posture – Keep your back supported and straight, and bring the baby towards you instead of leaning over the baby.

2️⃣ Worrying about breast size – Breast size does not determine your ability to produce breast milk. Milk is produced by the milk-producing glands, not by breast fat.

3️⃣ Changing breasts too frequently – Allow your baby to feed effectively from one breast before switching, rather than changing sides too quickly.

4️⃣ Not taking enough nutrition & fluids – A balanced diet with adequate protein, calories and fluids is important during breastfeeding. 💧🥗

5️⃣ Improper latch – The baby should latch onto the breast/areola effectively, not just the ni**le. Poor latching can contribute to sore, cracked or painful ni**les.

💗 Remember: Every mother and baby pair is different. If breastfeeding is painful, your baby is not latching well, or you’re concerned about milk supply, seek guidance from a qualified healthcare professional.

Happy Breastfeeding Month to every incredible mother. 🤍

Breastfeeding is love, patience, strength, and resilience—all wrapped into one beautiful journey.

As a gynecologist, I knew the science behind breastfeeding. But as a mother, I learned the emotions, the challenges, the sleepless nights, the self-doubt, and the immense joy that comes with nourishing your baby.

To every mom who breastfeeds, pumps, combo-feeds, or has faced hurdles along the way—you are doing an amazing job. Every feed, every cuddle, and every effort matters.

This Breastfeeding Month, let’s celebrate not perfection, but perseverance. Let’s support mothers, encourage them, and remind them that they are never alone.

Happy Breastfeeding Month to all the wonderful moms. Your love is your baby’s first and most precious gift. 💕🤱

Pushing during labour is not just about “pushing harder” — it’s about pushing effectively. 🤰

During the second stage of labour, when the cervix is fully dilated, the right technique can help you use your energy more effectively.

Here are some important tips to remember:

✔️ Take a deep breath
✔️ Bring your chin towards your chest
✔️ Engage your abdominal and pelvic muscles
✔️ Direct the pressure downward, similar to passing stool
✔️ Keep your face relaxed
✔️ Keep your shoulders loose
✔️ Avoid tightening your face, neck and shoulders unnecessarily

Remember: Relax your upper body and focus your effort downward.

Every labour is different, and your healthcare team will guide you on when and how to push based on your individual situation.

👩‍⚕️ If you're a mom-to-be, save this reel and share it with another expecting mother!

🤰 Can an Ultrasound Predict a Normal Delivery or a C-Section?

An ultrasound provides important information that helps your doctor assess the safest mode of delivery—but it doesn't guarantee how your baby will be born.

Some of the key factors evaluated include:
✔️ Baby's Position – Head-down (cephalic) babies have a higher chance of vaginal delivery, while breech or transverse positions may require a C-section.
✔️ Placenta Location – A low-lying placenta or placenta previa often makes a planned C-section the safer option.
✔️ Estimated Baby Weight – Larger babies may increase the likelihood of a cesarean delivery.
✔️ Doppler Blood Flow – Healthy blood flow to the baby is essential. Abnormal Doppler findings may require early or cesarean delivery.
✔️ Amniotic Fluid Levels – Very low fluid levels can affect delivery planning and may increase the need for a C-section.

Every pregnancy is unique, and the final decision depends on your overall health, your baby's condition, and your doctor's clinical assessment.

💙 Regular prenatal check-ups and timely ultrasounds help ensure the safest delivery for both mother and baby.
