Tympanoplasty Surgery is performed to repair a eardrum perforation with tissues from around the ear

Temporalis fascia and cartilage - tragal / septal are used for the repair of the eardrum.

Ossiculoplasty with cartilage and titanium are used to repair the 3 middle ear ossicles ( bones ) when eroded .
PORP - partial ossicular reconstruction prosthesis
TORP - total ossicular reconstruction prosthesis are the methods used .

The benefits from this surgery are clearance of disease/ infection and hearing restoration

3 rd March of every year is observed as “ WORLD HEARING DAY “ . The idea is to preserve this special sense of hearing at all ages .

This year the WHO theme is preservation of hearing in paediatric groups “ FROM COMMUNITIES TO CLASSROOMS “ . Identifying hearing loss in children, diagnosing correctly and treating appropriately is the key message here
