🚨 FEVER + COUGH + BODY ACHE? DON’T IGNORE IT.

Seasonal respiratory infections are common, and Influenza A — including possible H1N1 — can sometimes progress to pneumonia or other complications.

🦠 COMMON SYMPTOMS

• Fever/chills
• Dry cough & sore throat
• Severe body ache
• Headache
• Weakness & fatigue

⚠️ WATCH FOR WARNING SIGNS

Seek medical evaluation if you develop:

🔴 Increasing breathlessness
🔴 Low oxygen saturation
🔴 Chest pain
🔴 Persistent/worsening fever
🔴 Confusion or severe weakness
🔴 Symptoms worsening after initial improvement

💉 WHAT ABOUT FLU VACCINATION?

Annual influenza vaccination can reduce the risk of influenza and its complications.

It is particularly important to discuss vaccination with your doctor if you are elderly, pregnant, a young child, or have asthma/COPD, heart disease, diabetes or other chronic conditions.

🛡️ PROTECT YOURSELF

✔️ Maintain hand hygiene
✔️ Improve indoor ventilation
✔️ Avoid close contact with sick people
✔️ Consider a mask in crowded/poorly ventilated places
✔️ Avoid unnecessary antibiotics — they don’t treat influenza

Remember: Every fever and cough is NOT H1N1. But worsening respiratory symptoms should never be ignored.

How do you quantify breathlessness clinically? 🫁

Don’t just document “patient has dyspnea.”
Grade it.

The mMRC Dyspnea Scale (Grade 0–4) gives you a quick assessment of functional limitation due to breathlessness.

📌 mMRC 0 — Breathless only with strenuous exercise
📌 mMRC 1 — Breathless when hurrying / walking uphill
📌 mMRC 2 — Walks slower than peers or stops while walking
📌 mMRC 3 — Stops after ~100 m or a few minutes on level ground
📌 mMRC 4 — Too breathless to leave home or breathless while dressing

🎯 Clinical pearl: Always correlate the mMRC grade with the history, examination and underlying disease — don’t treat the score in isolation.

Save this. You’ll need it in your next respiratory case.

💊 Feeling better after starting TB treatment? That’s great—but it’s NOT the time to stop your medicines.
One of the biggest misconceptions about Tuberculosis (TB) treatment is that medicines can be stopped as soon as symptoms improve. In reality, TB bacteria may still be present in your body even when you start feeling better.
That’s why DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment, Short-course) is one of the most effective strategies for curing TB and preventing drug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB).
👉 Swipe through this carousel to understand why completing your TB treatment is just as important as starting it.
Here’s what you’ll learn:
💊 What is DOTS?
DOTS is a globally recommended treatment strategy that ensures TB patients receive the right medicines, in the right doses, for the complete duration of treatment under regular medical supervision.
✅ Why is DOTS so effective?
• Improves treatment success rates
• Ensures medicines are taken correctly
• Prevents relapse
• Reduces TB transmission
• Lowers the risk of Drug-Resistant TB (MDR-TB)
⚠️ What happens if TB treatment is stopped early?
❌ The infection may return.
❌ Surviving bacteria can become resistant to medicines.
❌ Treatment becomes longer, more expensive, and more difficult.
❌ The risk of spreading TB to others increases.
