💙 Every successful birth has a story. Some are fought for, every single day.

This mother came to us carrying not just a pregnancy, but the weight of four previous pregnancy losses, each occurring around the 6th month of gestation due to cervical insufficiency (cervical incompetence).

In her previous pregnancy, a McDonald cervical cerclage had also failed, making this pregnancy especially challenging.

Because of markedly engorged vessels around the uterine isthmus, an abdominal cerclage was considered high risk and was therefore not pursued.

She first visited our Maternal–Fetal Medicine OPD at 7 weeks of pregnancy. Following a reassuring combined first-trimester assessment, our team—Dr. Rajeeb Jena and Dr. Shradhanjali Sahoo—carefully planned and performed a modified Shirodkar cervical cerclage, tailored to her individual anatomy and obstetric history.

With meticulous antenatal surveillance, regular follow-up, and coordinated Maternal–Fetal Medicine care throughout the pregnancy, she progressed safely and delivered a healthy baby boy at 36 weeks of gestation.

Today, both mother and baby have gone home healthy, marking the end of a long journey and the beginning of a beautiful new chapter.

Stories like these remind us that while medicine is guided by science, it is equally driven by perseverance, teamwork, and hope.

We are deeply grateful to have been a part of this family's journey and wish them a lifetime of health and happiness. ❤️
