PCOS Renamed PMOS in Landmark Global Consensus

Why PCOS Was Renamed to PMOS

The name "PCOS" was deemed misleading and inaccurate, focusing too narrowly on "cysts" and ovaries, which delayed diagnosis and marginalized the condition's severe systemic health impacts.

Misleading Terminology: Many individuals diagnosed with the condition do not actually have abnormal ovarian cysts. The "polycystic" appearance is often just an accumulation of underdeveloped follicles.

Systemic Nature: The condition is a complex endocrine (hormonal) and metabolic disorder affecting heart health, insulin, weight, and mental health, not just a gynecological issue.

Delayed Diagnosis & Stigma: The focus on infertility and ovaries led to missed diagnoses and a lack of holistic treatment, often dismissed by doctors.

"Doc, do we still have a chance?”

We’ve heard this question in many forms—spoken softly, sometimes with doubt, sometimes with hope.

It’s a question that carries so much—the waiting, the uncertainty, the strength it takes to keep going.

And over time, we’ve learned to hold a space for it.
To listen, to guide, and to walk each step with you— with both compassion and science.

Because while every journey is different,
we’ve seen how the right care, guided by experience and research, can turn “maybe someday” into real beginnings.

And we’ll continue to be here—for every question, every step, and every story still unfolding. 💜

IUI Treatment not for Everyone :

Doing IUI without the right indication can delay your journey instead of helping it.

Who should AVOID IUI?
1. Blocked fallopian tubes: If tubes are not open, s***m and egg cannot meet
2. Severe male factor infertility: Very low count, motility, or high DNA damage
makes IUI success becomes very low
3. Very low ovarian reserve / poor response: This may need more advanced support instead of multiple IUIs
4. Long-standing infertility without evaluation: Doing repeated IUIs without understanding the cause can waste time
5. Uncontrolled hormonal or metabolic issues
(PCOS, thyroid, insulin resistance, etc.): Body needs preparation first to improve metabolic and hormonal health
6. Poor endometrial lining: Even if fertilization happens, implantation may not

IUI works best when the basics are in place and the right candidate is selected. It’s not about “trying everything”. It’s about choosing what’s right for you.

DEBUNKING COMMON IVF MYTHS

Myth 1 : IVF always works.
Fact: IVF can generally increase the chances of pregnancy, but it does not guarantee success. Success rate depends several factors, eg age, egg quality, s***m health and underlying fertility issues.
Myth 2: IVF always lead to twins or multiples.
Fact: While transferring multiple embryos can increase the chance of twins or triplets, many clinics now recommend single embryo transfer to minimise risks associated with multiple gestation.
Myth 3: Babies conceived Vis IVF are unhealthy
Fact: IVF babies are as healthy as babies conceived naturally. The first IVF baby( Louise Brown) in world delivered in 1978, has given birth to children who are medical doctors today..
Myth 4: IVF is the only option for Infertility
Fact: IVF is only one of many fertility treatments. Choice of treatment depends heavily on the cause of infertility and age of client.
Myth 5:IVF Babies suffer Developmental problems.
Fact: IVF babies have same developmental milestones like babies conceived naturally.
Myth 6: IVF never works on First Attempt
Fact: Many couples succeed on their first IVF cycle.
Myth 7: Age doesn't matter in IVF.
Fact: Age is the single strongest predictor of IVF success. Age is not just a number in fertility, it's a chromosomal risk curve in both genders.
Myth 8: Failed IVF cycle means you won't be able to conceive again.
Fact: Previous failed IVF cycle dose not have any effect on your future attempts. Some clients have conceived naturally after a failed IVF cycle.
Myth 9: IVF is for only women with blocked tubes.
Fact: IVF helps with many types of infertility eg male factor infertility, unexplained infertility, endometriosis, dimished ovarian reserve etc.
Myth 10: IVF is painful.
Fact: Most discomfort comes from injections and post retrieval cramping. Egg retrieval is done under sedation so pain minimal. Embryo transfer itself is painless.

Supporting fertility is about creating the right conditions for success. Every journey is unique, and small shifts in the body’s balance can make a meaningful difference. We focus on strengthening overall reproductive health and improving the conditions that support implantation and early pregnancy.

When the body is cared for with intention and balance, it becomes more receptive, more resilient, and better prepared for a successful outcome.

5 types of cysts endo-warriors can have... 🥚🩺💛
Yes, you can have endometriosis and still get other ovarian cysts too. Not every cyst is an endometrioma. Functional cysts are still the most common overall.

The 5 main types to know are:

• Functional or physiologic cysts: common cycle-related cysts.
• Endometrioma: the cyst type specifically linked to endometriosis. It forms when endometriosis involves the o***y.
• Dermoid cyst: also called a teratoma. This is a benign cyst or tumor that can contain hair, fat, or skin-like material.
• Cystadenoma: a benign growth , described as serous or mucinous and is not the same as an endometrioma.
• Paraovarian or paratubal cyst: this sits near the o***y or tube

One more important point is that PCOS is not the same as having one ovarian cyst. In PCOS, the “cysts” are usually many small follicles.
