| 28 July

Your liver works tirelessly every day—often without asking for attention. But hepatitis can silently damage it for years before symptoms appear.

The good news? Many forms of hepatitis are preventable, treatable, and in some cases curable when detected early.
On this World Hepatitis Day, let's remember:
🟡 Get tested if you're at risk or have never been screened.
🟡 Ensure children receive recommended hepatitis vaccinations.
🟡 Practice safe food, water, and hygiene habits.
🟡 Avoid sharing needles or personal items that may carry blood.
🟡 Seek medical advice if you have persistent fatigue, jaundice, dark urine, or unexplained abdominal discomfort.

High blood pressure is often called the "silent killer" because it may not cause any noticeable symptoms for years.

Many people feel perfectly healthy while high blood pressure quietly damages the heart, brain, kidneys, and eyes.

💡 Test your Health IQ this week!

Not every day in medicine is spent with a stethoscope around the neck.

Today was one of those days that reminded me that being a doctor is about much more than treating illness.

The day began with donating blood for a patient in need—a small gesture that I hope made a meaningful difference. ❤️🩸

Later, we gathered to bid farewell to an MHRC family member, sharing laughter, memories, and gratitude for the journey we've had together. Goodbyes are never easy, but they remind us of the bonds we build while caring for others.

In between, of course, there were patients to see, conversations to have, and lives to touch—just another day in the beautiful, demanding, and deeply rewarding world of medicine.

Some days are exhausting. Some are emotional. But every day is a reminder of why I chose this profession.

MONSOON HEALTH SERIES | WEEK 3

A fever is one of the most common symptoms during the monsoon. While many viral fevers are mild and self-limiting, some may be the first sign of illnesses such as dengue, malaria, typhoid or leptospirosis.

The challenge is knowing when a fever needs medical attention.

Persistent high fever, severe body ache, repeated vomiting, rash, bleeding, breathlessness or signs of dehydration should never be ignored. Early evaluation and appropriate treatment can help prevent complications and support a quicker recovery.

Rather than self-medicating or waiting for symptoms to worsen, seek medical advice if you notice any warning signs.

Being informed is one of the best ways to protect yourself and your family this monsoon.

⏱️ – Week 7

How many hours have you spent looking at a screen today?

Whether it's your phone, laptop, or television, our eyes rarely get the breaks they deserve.

👀 This week's 1-Minute Health Challenge:
Look away from your screen for 1 minute.

Focus on a distant object, blink naturally, and let your eyes relax.

Why is this important?

Extended screen time can lead to digital eye strain, dry eyes, headaches, blurred vision, and difficulty concentrating.

Make it a habit:

✔ Follow the 20-20-20 rule: Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.
✔ Blink more often while using digital devices.
✔ Take a 1-minute screen break every couple of hours.

Your eyes work hard for you every day. Giving them a minute of rest is a simple habit that can make a real difference.

✅ Done today's challenge?

Comment "DONE 👀" below and tag someone who spends too much time on their phone!

One minute today. A healthier tomorrow.

MONSOON HEALTH SERIES | WEEK 2

The rainy season doesn't just increase the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses—it also brings a rise in food- and water-borne infections. Cases of gastroenteritis, food poisoning, typhoid and hepatitis A become more common during this time, often because of contaminated food, unsafe drinking water and poor hand hygiene.

Fortunately, prevention begins with a few simple daily habits.

This week's post highlights practical measures that can significantly reduce your risk of gastrointestinal infections—from choosing freshly prepared food and safe drinking water to maintaining good hand hygiene and recognising when symptoms need medical attention
Your digestive health is often your first line of defence. Protect it well this monsoon.

If you or a family member develops persistent vomiting, diarrhoea, severe abdominal pain, high fever or signs of dehydration, don't delay seeking medical advice.

An Inspiring Experience at IDEACON 2026 | Kolkata

It was a privilege to attend IDEACON 2026, where clinicians, academicians, and researchers from across the country came together to exchange ideas, discuss emerging evidence, and explore the future of Internal Medicine.

Medical conferences like these are a reminder that learning never stops. Every lecture, discussion, and interaction reinforces our commitment to providing evidence-based, patient-centered care.

Being hosted in Kolkata, a city celebrated for its rich heritage, culture, and intellectual legacy, made this year's conference even more memorable. It was wonderful to witness our city welcoming colleagues from across India.

A special joy was sharing this experience with my son, making the occasion meaningful both professionally and personally.

Grateful to the organizers, speakers, and fellow delegates for an enriching experience. Looking forward to translating these learnings into better care for my patients.
