💡 A recent paper on oral cancer says:
Even small amounts of alcohol may increase the risk of mouth cancer.
🔎 What the study found
People consuming about one small alcoholic drink per day (~9 g alcohol) had a significantly higher risk of buccal mucosa cancer compared to non-drinkers.
⚠️ Important finding
When alcohol is combined with to***co, the risk of oral cancer becomes even higher.
❤️ Why this matters
Many people believe only heavy drinking causes cancer. This study shows that even low levels of alcohol consumption can increase oral cancer risk, especially in populations where to***co use is common.
👉 Takeaway
Limiting alcohol — particularly when combined with to***co — may help reduce oral cancer risk.

World Cancer Day | A Story of Hope After Tongue Cancer

This video shows our patient three years after treatment for advanced tongue cancer — speaking clearly, swallowing comfortably, and living cancer-free.

Due to the extent of cancer, most of the tongue had to be surgically removed to achieve safe cancer clearance. Using tissue taken from the thigh, the tongue was carefully reconstructed so that speech and swallowing could be restored.

What you see today is not just survival — it is quality of life after cancer.
This outcome was possible because of multidisciplinary cancer care, involving oral oncologists, plastic surgeons and speech & swallowing specialists. And finally what mattered the most is the courage of the patient and the support of her loved ones.

◉ HPV-associated cancer patients are usually young with no history of to***co use.
◉ They have a better prognosis when compared to to***co-related cancers.

◉The other constituents of alcohol can have carcinogenic potential.
◉Immunity is reduced in chronic alcoholics.
◉Metabolism is deranged due to liver damage in chronic alcoholics, which can result in nutritional deficiency.
