Advancements in coronary angioplasty have evolved remarkably over the last four decades, and we are now entering an exciting era of “leaving nothing behind.”
I am absolutely thrilled to have organised the Asia-Pacific region’s first dedicated “Stentless PCI” Course in Chennai, India along with Raj and Girish.
This is a proud moment for India to host the continent’s first and largest focused course on Stentless PCI, highlighting contemporary angioplasty strategies using advanced vessel preparation techniques such as cutting balloons, calcium modification, IVUS-guided PCI, laser angioplasty, and drug-eluting balloons (DEB) — with no permanent stent implantation.
It was truly fascinating to witness the interest, enthusiasm, and active participation from colleagues across India and the Asia-Pacific region.
Our patients deserve the best, and I strongly believe that, in selected cases, angioplasty without leaving a permanent metallic implant behind will play an increasingly meaningful role in the future of coronary intervention.
My sincere gratitude to all the course directors and faculty members for their invaluable contributions, and to the Asia Pacific Society of Cardiology (APSC) for endorsing this important advancement in coronary angioplasty.
