A guest lecture on *Childhood Myopia- Decoded* was organised by department of Ophthalmology, Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute on 26/05/2026. The organising secretary being Prof. Dr. M RAJAKUMARI. The speaker was Dr SHRUTI NISHANT, Strabismus and Pediatric ophthalmologist from M N Eye Care Hospital.

It was well attended by faculty and post graduate students of Ophthalmology, Pediatrics and Optometry. The speaker discussed about how myopia is increasing in children which might become more than 50% by 2050 in South East Asia due to the sedentary lifestyle and more of screen time, though genetics may also be a part of it.

She also spoke at length about preventing the progression using medical, optical and surgical management and counciling of the parents. There was good interaction between the speaker and students. The speech ended with our department Head presenting a momento to the speaker and a vote of thanks.

The Department of OBG, CHRI, in collaboration with Meril India Ltd., is organizing a **Basic Suturing Skills Workshop – "Tie the Perfect Knot"** on **6th June 2026** at the Chettinad Simulation & Skill Centre.

This hands-on workshop is designed to strengthen essential suturing techniques through expert-led demonstrations, interactive training sessions, and practical skill development. The Department of Pathology organized a CME-cum-Workshop on Hematopathology on 27th May 2026 at Demo Hall 10 for postgraduate students. The academic program was conducted from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM and focused on enhancing practical and diagnostic skills in hematopathology.

The workshop featured a comprehensive discussion of various hematopathology cases along with detailed chart-based presentations. The sessions were led by Dr. Debdatta Basu and Dr. Sreerag Kana, who shared their expertise and insights on the interpretation and diagnosis of hematological disorders.

The program included interactive case discussions, morphological evaluation, and correlation with laboratory findings, which provided valuable learning opportunities for the postgraduate participants. Various charts and illustrative materials were used to facilitate better understanding of disease patterns, classification, and diagnostic approaches in hematopathology.

The Department of Psychiatry, CHRI, conducted a to***co awareness and screening camp at Mahaveer Illam, Uthandi, as part of World No To***co Day 2026. The program focused on creating awareness regarding the harmful effects of to***co and ni****ne use, including smoking, chewing to***co, va**ng, and e-cigarettes.

Residents of the psychiatry home were screened for to***co use and ni****ne dependence, and appropriate treatment and guidance for to***co cessation were provided. The awareness session also emphasized the importance of early identification and management of ni****ne addiction in promoting a healthier, to***co-free lifestyle. 🌿✨

The Department of ENT, Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute, proudly participated in ASCENT 2026, the 10th All India Sri Ramachandra CME in ENT, conducted from 21st May to 24th May 2026. The event provided an excellent academic platform for postgraduate students to present their papers and posters and interact with eminent faculty members and dignitaries.

Three second-year postgraduate students from the department achieved notable recognition during the conference. Dr. Rajashree Poddar secured the 1st prize in the paper presentation category for her topic, “Combined Approach in the Management of Post-Traumatic Frontal Mucocele.” Dr. Aditi Singh won the 3rd prize in the paper presentation category for the topic, “When Thyroidectomy Becomes an Airway Challenge – A Case of Advanced Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma.

” Dr. A.S. Amirthaa secured the 2nd prize in the poster presentation category for the topic, “Tuberculous Otitis Media – Is It a Common Entity?” The postgraduates also had the opportunity to meet the Vice Chancellor and Dean of Chettinad Academy of Research and Education and were felicitated for their achievements.

The International Conference “CHETPHYSIOCON 2026” was organized by the Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE on 09.05.2026 at the Mini Auditorium under the chairpersonship of Dr. K. C. Gayathri, Dean i/c, Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE. The conference was conducted with the theme “Hands Beyond Hands: AI and Robotics in Rehabilitation in the Age of Smart Technology.” The program witnessed active participation from various physiotherapy colleges, academicians, clinicians, research scholars, and students.

Eminent speakers including Dr. Harshvardhan Singh, Dr. Nisar Jamaludeen, Dr. S.S. Subramanian, Prof. Dr. A. Kumaresan, and Dr. P. Senthil Selvam delivered informative sessions on AI-powered rehabilitation, robotics, gait and posture analysis, pediatric neuro rehabilitation, and future physiotherapy practices.

The scientific session included paper and poster presentations by participants from different colleges, promoting research and innovation.
