Do you think bone grafting is an “extra” dental procedure?
Not always.
When a tooth is lost, the bone in that area can slowly shrink because it no longer has the tooth root for support. If the bone becomes too thin, a dental implant may not have a strong base to stay stable.
That’s why some patients need bone grafting before implant placement.
Bone grafting helps support new bone growth and prepares the jaw for a stronger implant foundation. In some cases, grafting can also be done immediately after tooth extraction to reduce bone shrinkage.
Sometimes, the smartest step is not rushing into the implant.
It is fixing the bone first.
Save this if you are planning for dental implants.
