🦴 Does our body have an expiry date?
Just like products have an expiry date, many people wonder if our bones, muscles, and joints also have a limit. The answer is not exactly—but aging does bring natural changes.
Dr. Arun explains what happens to your knee cartilage, bone health, and muscles as you age.
✅ Up to around 20 years, your bone mass and muscle mass continue to grow and become stronger.
⚠️ After that, they gradually begin to decline.
Around the age of 35 to 40, the knee cartilage naturally starts becoming thinner (known as chondromalacia). As the cartilage wears down, the bones may begin rubbing against each other, leading to knee pain, stiffness, and osteoarthritis over time.
👉 If you develop knee pain before the age of 35, it may not be due to normal aging. It could be caused by:
✔️ A previous sports injury
✔️ Ligament or meniscus injury
✔️ Joint inflammation
✔️ Other orthopedic conditions
The good news? You can slow down age-related knee wear by taking care of your joints.
💪 Here's how:
• Maintain a healthy weight
• Exercise regularly
• Build muscle strength
• Eat a balanced, protein-rich diet
• Stay physically active every day
Small lifestyle changes today can help protect your knee cartilage, joints, and bone health for years to come.
