Does running on roads really damage your knees?

It’s one of the most common concerns among runners—but the answer isn’t as simple as “yes” or “no.”

The real difference lies in how you run, the shoes you wear, the strength of your muscles, and how gradually you increase your distance.

With the right running form, proper cushioned footwear, regular strength training, and a progressive training plan, road running can be both safe and enjoyable.

Don’t let myths stop you from staying active. Focus on running the right way, and your body will thank you.

Stay active. Stay healthy.

Lighting up a landmark. Lighting up awareness.

On World Hepatitis Day, the Chennai Liver Foundation, in collaboration with the Greater Chennai Corporation, illuminated the iconic Ripon Building in green as a symbol of hope and our collective commitment to eliminating hepatitis.

The green illumination served as a powerful reminder of the importance of awareness, early detection, timely treatment, prevention, and vaccination in the fight against hepatitis.

Together, we can break the stigma, encourage more people to get screened, and work towards a future where hepatitis is no longer a public health threat.

Let’s continue spreading awareness because every conversation, every test, and every action can help save lives.

When one of Chennai’s most iconic landmarks turns green, it is more than just a beautiful sight, it is a reminder that millions of people are living with a disease that is often silent until it is too late.

Today, on World Hepatitis Day, seeing the Ripon Building illuminated in green is a powerful message that liver health deserves our attention. It is heartening to see Chennai stand with the global movement to raise awareness about viral hepatitis and the importance of prevention, early diagnosis and timely treatment.

As the Managing Trustee of Chennai Liver Foundation, this day holds special meaning for me.
For years, our mission has been simple, to make liver health a public health priority.

Through awareness campaigns, free screening initiatives, educational programmes, research, and community outreach, we have worked towards ensuring that fewer families have to face the consequences of liver disease that could have been prevented or detected earlier.

This year’s World Hepatitis Day theme, “Hepatitis: Let’s Break It Down,” is a reminder that we already have the knowledge, vaccines, diagnostics and treatments. What we need now is to break down the barriers that prevent people from getting tested, treated and protected.

Awareness is where prevention begins.

If today’s green illumination encourages even one person to get tested, get vaccinated, or start a conversation about liver health, it has already made a difference.
On this World Hepatitis Day, let us all take one step closer to a future where hepatitis is no longer a public health threat.

Hepatitis often stays silent until the liver is already damaged.

Millions of people are living with hepatitis without even knowing it. Early detection, timely treatment, and vaccination can prevent serious liver disease and save lives.

This World Hepatitis Day, take a moment to learn about your liver, get tested if you’re at risk, and encourage your loved ones to do the same.

Awareness today can prevent complications tomorrow.

Stay informed. Stay protected. Stay healthy.

Sports teach us a lot about life.

From football and Formula 1 to Wimbledon, we are witnessing some of the world’s greatest athletes perform at the highest level.

What do athletes like Messi and Djokovic have in common?

Discipline.
Dedicated practice.
A healthy diet.
Mental strength.
And the consistency to keep going, even when things don’t go their way.

One of the biggest lessons we can learn from sport is simple: it’s not over until it’s over.

Even when the odds are against you, giving up is never the answer. Keep working. Keep trying. Keep moving forward.

The same applies to our health. Small, consistent choices can help us stay at our peak for years to come.

Stay safe. Stay healthy.

It was a pleasure meeting Dr. K. G. Arun Raj, Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu.

I had the opportunity to speak with him about the work we have been doing through the Chennai Liver Foundation, from liver health awareness and education to prevention, research, and community outreach.

We also discussed Run for Liver Health, our awareness marathon that encourages people to take one simple but powerful step toward better health: moving more.

For us, the run is not just an event. It is a way to bring liver health into everyday conversations and remind people that prevention begins with small lifestyle choices.

Our discussion also touched upon the need for stronger awareness, early detection, and timely intervention for liver diseases across Tamil Nadu.

I am grateful for the Hon’ble Minister’s time and interest in CLF’s work. Conversations like these give us renewed motivation to continue building healthier communities.
