🚨 Is your child a mouth breather? Watch this before you call it “just a habit.” 👀
If your child frequently sleeps with their mouth open, snores, wakes up with a dry mouth, or seems to breathe through the mouth during the day—there may be more to it than you think.
Mouth breathing can sometimes be linked to nasal blockage, allergies, enlarged adenoids or tonsils, or airway-related concerns.
And when it persists during childhood, it may affect:
🦷 Dental & jaw development
👅 Tongue posture & swallowing
😴 Sleep quality
👄 Oral dryness & cavity risk
😊 Facial growth in some children
Don’t just ask your child to “close their mouth.”
Ask the more important question:
👉 “Why are they breathing through it?”
Early assessment can help identify the cause and guide the right treatment. A pediatric dentist may also work alongside an ENT when required.
