PCOS & Love: What Support Really Looks Like
• It’s more than missed periods — it’s a lifelong hormonal reality.
• Emotional shifts are biology, not behavior. Patience matters.
• Weight loss isn’t linear; effort doesn’t always reflect on the scale.
• Tiredness can be constant, even on “easy” days.
• Self-doubt and anxiety are common — reassurance helps more than advice.
• Skin issues, hair fall, facial hair can deeply impact confidence.
• Fertility worries carry emotional weight — sensitivity is essential.
• Food choices aren’t trends; they’re part of treatment. Respect them.
• Movement helps, but rest is sometimes the real medicine.
• Stress worsens symptoms — be calm, not demanding.
• Appointments, tests, meds — the mental load is heavy.
• She isn’t broken. She needs understanding, steadiness, and care.
PCOS isn’t something she faces alone.
The most powerful support isn’t fixing — it’s staying, learning, and loving. 🤍

🥩 PROTEIN — more than just muscles
(From a nutrition student | After understanding carbs & fats)
Protein isn’t only about six-pack abs or gym hype.
It’s one of the most hardworking macronutrients in your body.
🔹 Growth & repair
Protein helps build, repair, and maintain all body tissues — muscles, skin, hair, organs.
🔹 Enzymes & reactions
Most enzymes are proteins.
Without them, essential chemical reactions in your body simply wouldn’t happen.
🔹 Hormones & signals
Proteins and peptides form many hormones and help transmit messages between cells, tissues, and organs.
🔹 Structure & strength
Fibrous proteins give structure, strength, and elasticity to muscles, tendons, skin, and connective tissues.
🔹 pH balance
Proteins act as buffers, helping maintain proper blood and body fluid pH.
🔹 Fluid balance
They help keep fluids balanced between blood and surrounding tissues.
🔹 Immunity
Antibodies are proteins — your body’s defense against bacteria and viruses.
🔹 Transport & storage
Some proteins carry nutrients across the body, others store them for later use.
🔹 Energy (last option)
Protein can provide energy, but mainly during fasting, extreme exercise, or very low calorie intake.
💪 About high-protein diets
Higher protein intake can support: ✔️ Weight management
✔️ Lean muscle mass
✔️ Lower obesity risk
But ⚠️ extremely high protein isn’t always healthy.
There’s no single “danger number” — tolerance depends on the individual, health status, and activity level.
📌 Physically active people and strength athletes need more protein than sedentary individuals.
Some studies even show strength-training men consuming ~3 g/kg/day for a year without adverse effects — but that doesn’t mean it’s right for everyone.
✨ Nutrition is individual. Balance matters.
Protein is powerful — but it works best with carbs, fats, fibre, and enough calories.
No macro should be feared or blindly followed.

🥑 FAT: The most misunderstood macronutrient
Fat is not your enemy.
Fat is not “just stored calories.”
Fat is a critical macronutrient your body needs to function.
When we fear fat too much or cut it too low, health suffers.
Here’s why fat matters 👇
✨ Vitamin absorption
Vitamins A, D, E & K are fat-soluble.
No fat → poor absorption → deficiencies, even with a “healthy” diet.
✨ Hormonal health (especially for women)
Fat is a building block of hormones like estrogen & progesterone.
Too little fat can lead to: • Irregular or missed periods
• Low libido
• Mood swings
• Fertility issues
✨ Brain & mental health
Your brain is ~60% fat.
Essential fats support memory, focus, mood, and nervous system health.
✨ Skin, hair & nails
Healthy fats maintain the skin’s lipid barrier.
Low fat intake = dry skin, hair fall, brittle nails.
✨ Immunity & inflammation control
Omega-3 and omega-6 fats help regulate inflammation and immune response.
✨ Satiety & metabolism
Fat keeps you full and satisfied.
Too little fat often leads to: • Constant hunger
• Sugar cravings
• Metabolic slowdown
🧠 Not all fats are equal
✔ Monounsaturated fats (MUFA) – heart-friendly
• Olive oil
• Mustard oil
• Nuts, seeds, avocado
✔ Polyunsaturated fats (PUFA) – essential
• Omega-3: fatty fish, flax, mustard oil
• Omega-6: nuts, seeds, vegetable oils
⚠ Limit, don’t fear
• Saturated fat:
– Men ≤ 30 g/day
– Women ≤ 20 g/day
• Trans fats: as low as possible

Many of us Bengalis, especially health-conscious people, now choose olive oil over mustard oil, believing it to be “healthier.”
But nutrition is not that simple.
Sometimes, blind faith in poorly interpreted science — mixed with economic interests — may not serve public health well.
The mustard oil ban is a classic example.
In the 1970s, some animal studies used unrealistically high doses of erucic acid and raised concerns about heart health.
Based on this limited data, the US and parts of Europe restricted mustard oil as a cooking oil.
As Bengalis (and Indians), our food traditions evolved with climate, lifestyle & digestion.

💬 No oil is healthy if overused.
No traditional oil becomes dangerous just because it doesn’t fit Western culinary norms.
Let’s respect science, culture, and moderation❤️😇

Protein Protein Protein 🤔

Today’s topic: Metabolism & how our body uses energy 🔥

We always talk about protein — yes, protein is important.
But carbohydrates and fats are also essential macros.
Metabolism is how your body converts food and drinks into energy. It includes thousands of chemical reactions happening inside your cells that help you:
Breathe
Move
Heal
Think
Maintain body temperature

🧠 Why Carbohydrates Matter
Your brain depends on glucose as its main fuel.
Carbs → Glucose → stored as Glycogen (in liver & muscles) → used for energy.

👉 That’s why RDA for carbs is minimum ~130 g/day for adults.
Just Focus on fiber-rich complex carbs and limit added simple sugars.

Protein matters
Carbohydrates matters
Fats matters

Protein ✔️ Carbs ✔️ Fats ✔️
Balanced diet = healthy metabolism 🌱

Food is nourishment, not punishment❤️

Carbs done ✔️
Fats coming next — stay tuned 🤍

🙌 This post isn’t a lesson
It’s just a few easy lifestyle tips to enjoy restaurant food and take care of your health at the same time 💚
Eating out doesn’t have to mean guilt or extremes.
A few small choices can make a big difference 🍽️
Here’s how I keep it simple when eating at restaurants 👇
✔️ Begin with water or light soup 💧
It helps settle hunger and keeps you from overeating later.
✔️ Read the menu mindfully 👀
Go for dishes that are grilled, baked, steamed, or roasted instead of fried or heavy gravies.
✔️ Keep sauces separate 🥗
This way you decide how much oil, sugar, or salt you actually want.
✔️ Add more vegetables 🌿
Extra veggies mean better fiber and lighter calories.
✔️ Pick smarter carbs or protein bases 🍞
Whole wheat, brown rice, quinoa, or lentil-based options are better when available.
✔️ Be mindful of portion size 🍽️
Restaurant servings are usually larger than needed—sharing helps.
✔️ Choose drinks wisely 🥤
Skip sugary beverages and go for water or unsweetened options.
✔️ Include a protein source 💪
Paneer, tofu, chicken, fish, or dals help keep you full and balanced.
👉 Eat slowly, enjoy your food, and stop before you feel overly full.
✨ Reminder:
Healthy living isn’t about avoiding restaurants—
it’s about balance, awareness, and enjoying life 💛

✨ Today’s Learning Session ✨
Today in my session, I learned something important:
👉 First, we have to unlearn some things to truly understand new things.
Today’s topic was digestion, and I want to talk about something that is purely a marketing gimmick — things like Ramban tea, detox water, detox teas, juice cleanses, etc.
Nowadays, we see so many detox drinks and detox teas on social media. But the truth is — most detox products are a myth.
There is no strong scientific evidence that detox teas or drinks remove toxins from your body.
💡 Reality check:
Your body already has its own detox system — mainly your liver and kidneys. They work 24/7 to remove toxins. No special tea or drink is needed.
Some common myths:
❌ Detox diets flush out toxins
❌ Juice cleanses are the best way to detox
❌ Detox teas help in fat loss
❌ Skipping solid food improves detox
Facts:
✅ Most detox teas only cause temporary water loss (not fat loss)
✅ Juice cleanses lack protein and fibre
✅ Starving can slow metabolism and cause nutrient deficiencies
✅ Your liver works best when you eat balanced meals
✅ Your liver loves fibre — it helps bind waste and supports natural detoxification
Instead of falling for detox trends, focus on long-term healthy habits:
🥬 Eat a nutrient-dense diet (leafy greens, cruciferous vegetables, citrus fruits, turmeric, garlic, beets)
💧 Stay hydrated (8–10 glasses of water daily)
😴 Sleep 7–9 hours (your liver regenerates during sleep)
🧘‍♀️ Manage stress
🚶‍♀️ Move your body regularly
🍎 Eat enough protein and fibre
Even lemon water doesn’t “detox” your liver — it simply supports hydration and digestion.
👉 Real health comes from consistent lifestyle choices, not quick fixes.
⚠️ Sharing this as a nutrition student — please don’t follow anything blindly. Always listen to your body and consult professionals when needed.
Let’s choose science over trends 🤍
