MYTH Vs FACT

❌ Myth: If you don't cough, you aren't aspirating.

✅ Fact: Not all aspiration causes coughing. Silent aspiration occurs when food or liquid enters the airway without triggering a cough, making it difficult to detect and potentially increasing the risk of respiratory complications.

💡Early identification and appropriate intervention can help improve swallowing safety and quality of life.

🧠 What is Aphasia?

Aphasia is a language disorder caused by damage to the brain, affecting a person's ability to speak, understand, read, or write. There are many types of aphasia, each affecting communication differently.

🔹 Broca's Aphasia (Expressive Aphasia)

People with Broca's aphasia usually understand language relatively well but have difficulty expressing their thoughts. Their speech may be slow, effortful, and limited to short phrases, while they know exactly what they want to say.

💬 How Speech Therapy helps?

Speech therapy can improve communication skills, help individuals find alternative ways to express themselves, and enhance confidence and quality of life through personalized intervention.

Chronic mouth breathing in children is often caused by enlarged adenoids, allergies, or nasal blockage.

When kids breathe through the mouth for a long time, it can affect facial growth, jaw development, sleep, and speech.

Early treatment, proper tongue posture, and breathing exercises can make a big difference—especially during growing years.

If you notice snoring, open-mouth posture, or difficulty breathing through the nose, consult an ENT specialist early.
