இன்று பூமி தினம்!

உலகின் பல பகுதிகளிலும் இன்று பூமி தினம் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. பூமியின் சுற்றுச்சூழல் குறித்த விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்துவதற்காக உருவாக்கப்பட்டதே பூமி தினமாகும். அமெரிக்க செனட் உறுப்பினர் கெலார்ட் நெல்சன் 1970ம் ஆண்டு ஏப்ரல் 22ம் தேதி இந்த பூமி தினத்தை உருவாக்கினார். அன்று முதல் இது தொடர்ந்து அமெரிக்காவில் தவறாமல் அனுசரிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. தற்போது உலகெங்கும் இது பிரபலமாகியுள்ளது. உலகெங்கும் ஜூன் 5ம் தேதி உலக சுற்றுச்சூழல் தினம் தனியாக கொண்டாடப்பட்டு வருவது ஒருபக்கம் இருந்தாலும் தற்போது ஏப்ரல் 22ம் தேதி பூமி தினமாகவும் அனுசரிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. பல நாடுகளில் பூமி வாரமாகவும் இது அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது. பிலடெல்பியாவில் ஏப்ரல் 16ம் தேதி தொடங்கி 22ம் தேதி வரை பூமி வாரமாக அனுசரிக்கிறார்கள். 1970ம் ஆண்டு முதல் இவ்வாறு கொண்டாட்பட்டு வருகிறது.ட பூமி தினத்தையொட்டி பல்வேறு நாடுகலில் விதம் விதமான கோணத்தில் பூமி போன்ற மாதிரிகளை முக்கிய நகரங்களின் முக்கியப் பகுதிகளில் மக்கள் பார்வைக்கு வைத்துள்ளனர். அதில் சுற்றுச்சூழல் பாதுகாப்பு குறித்த விழிப்புணர்வு வாசகங்கள் இடம் பெற்றுள்ளன. புவிவெப்ப தடுப்பு விழிப்புணர்வு பிரசாரங்களும் இந்த ஆண்டு பூமி தினக் கொண்டாட்டத்தில் முக்கிய இடம் பெற்றுள்ளன.
